How do I make a CAS default replacement with a Maxis face?

I like the 2nd face in CAS for females, but the elder version of that template looks awkward. Fortunately, there is another elder female template that looks more tolerable, and looks very similar to the adult version. So, how do I redirect the adult face template to a different elder face template?

Furthermore, how do I create a CAS face template without replacing any Maxis faces? I think Maxis/Maxoidmonkey has made Kurt and Julie this way, because Kurt's and Julie's face templates don't replace anything. In other words, how do I make a standalone face template?

Not sure, but it sounds like a good project for you to figure stuff out with. I would recommend looking at all the face templates we have already available on MTS and starting from one of them. I even think one of them was just a set of templates with nothing changed. Poke astound with that and see what you can do. If you make any breakthroughs, report back!
