Ok first i hope this is the best area of the site to put this on. Second, I didnt see any posts about it so here:

So it is August 9th and The Sims Social was just launched around late morning today on
Facebook! :p We finallyyy got what we've been waiting for. I started playing today but it disconnected a bunch of time, so i played for maybe a total of only like 20 min. First the tutorial got a little annoying, but it was quick. Then all the sudden all these random people kept popping up sayin "earn simoleons!" and "plant seeds!" and i felt i wasnt able to just do what i wanted. Also, the needs system is different, and go down faster than in the real Sims 3, at least. Lastly, I wanted to click on all the buttons just to see what it was like and pretty much 90% ended up in a window asking you for your credit card info or whatever to buy "Sim Cash." It annoys me that (on the top bar) there are like 8 different currency systems:
1. Simoleons
2. Sim Cash (I love how it really isnt the same thing as simoleons)
3. XP points
4. Energy
5. At least another one that I forget. :faceslap:

But all in all it doesnt seem TOO bad and is sorta just made to pass time if youre bored and cant play the real Sims 2/3 etc. I recommend it to someone who cant afford any or many sims games, since it is free (at least to begin with, haha), and also people who like "busy" games like FarmVille or CityVille or We Rule or whatever. (personally i dont like those because you just click on little houses / crops to get $$$ and XP and just keep waiting 30 seconds to keep clicking on houses or crops.) But since this is the Sims version of those types of games its not so bad as its not just focused on crops or cities and more about playing as a person through their lives and "meeting neighbors" and earning things. But of course it does not compare to TS3. If you want to play its, free on Facebook. I just search "Sims social" and press "Go to app." ;)

Share your thoughts and experiences of The Sims Social here on this thread!

Thanks and happy simming! :anime:

theres around a 40% chance you can play. You just have to keep refreshing the page and soon the loading screen will come up and you can create your sim. I got an email from EA this morning so i was off and on it today and got to play it. But dont feel bad youre not missing out on THAT much! haha

I have started playing this. If anyone was looking forward to a replacement for TSO, this isn't it. Although you can "meet your friends" they are not realtime and you can't communicate with them like you're chatting or anything. The representation of your friend that you meet is your friend's avatar as an NPC.

That's unfortunate but I really am not surprised all things considered.

I was less than impressed with it.

I was thinking you could meet and chat real time with your friends...you know, like an interactive chat if she or he were home and online...

That being said, I don't really play facebook games. It looks like I won't really do much with this one, either.

I found you run out of energy so quickly as you do stuff. Then you either have to log off and come back later, or pay real money to buy some. You don't get far into the game before you're bombarded with reasons to part with money.

Can't you sleep to gain energy?

Nope, sleeping satisfies the sleep motive, energy is something different. You can score bonus energy apparently at random. Or you can buy it. Your energy is full when you first start up the game (not sure how long it takes to replenish) but you lose an energy point for pretty much everything you do other than eat a snack, pee, or go to bed. Oh you can play a computer game too.

HCAC, I also play Farm Town (my only other FB game) and at least in there the other avatars only appear when their player is logged in and you can chat and cooperate with the real person behind the avatar. I wondered what they meant when they said you could log in and find your friend had suddenly become your enemy!

From what I have seen so far it looks decent, but I can't judge it yet. I do like how they used the original Sims sound effects though :D
