How do let my teen go on a field trip?

The first time I got a popup saying "can Bart go on a field trip" I said yes, thinking that was all I had to do (he got on the school bus by himself). Later I got a popup saying he had missed his field trip.

The next day I got another opportunity, same question asking if my teen sim could go on a field trip. I said yes and this time followed the bus to school. I then made sure I was controlling my teen sim and then clicked on the school, assuming there was something I had to click on. My only options were "go to school", "visit school" (which didn't sound like the field trip) and maybe another option or two (which also didn't sound like the field trip).

Hey I want one of those funky souvenirs! How do I make him go on a field trip?

You just send them to school like normal. Do you live on the far reaches of town? Because if they get to school late, they miss the field trip. Specially a problem in large houses, where it takes a long time to get to the school bus in the morning. Try sending them to the school lot early, that way they can get to school on time.

Thanks very much for your reply, but *fairly sure* he got to school at least a few minutes early. Have to try again just to check... was suspecting some kind of glitch...

Is it possible that when you clicked on the go to school option, you actually cancelled the field trip? My Sim kiddies have been on several of the trips, but as RoadRageBarbie said, they can't be late for school. Once there, the scenario plays itself. It still could be a glitch, but I thought I'd offer that as a possible scenario.

My teen went on her field trip no problem.. Only it was to a grave yard?? WTF was up with that.. Anyways she went. The game automatically sent her on the field trip after she got to the school.

From what I've seen, if you click on the location of the field trip then it should pop up with an option to "Go on Field Trip" or something similar. I've never tried it, but I guess it couldn't hurt.
