View Full Version : How To Put Your Own Poses In Game?

I know how to make a pose, imports/exports, using AnimTool, all the good stuff, but when it comes to putting it on the game, I'm really confused. I read the tutorials;
http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=438716
http://nene.modthesims.info/wiki.ph...3_Pose_Creation
http://simswiki.info/wiki.php?title..._3_Making_Poses

They explain you convert the .SMD back to a .clip, make a package and place it in it then place that in the MODS folder in Sims 3 Folder in Documents folder. I got that, but when I play the game, it isn't recognized. Why is that?

I actually did some experimenting. See, when I downloaded the poseplayer, it gave me a template of some sort which contained the _XML and _KEY plus some other thing that said S3SA. I exported this to my package I made for my pose. In the _XML, I put in the info on my pose, except for the icon because I didn't have one.
The _Key said this after I put that down;

Version: 0x00000001
--- (0x2) ---
[0] 0x62952224C0C66118: Template.dll
[1] 0x19710CCA68C7E1F1: a_ZXIAN_Cool_DUDE_Pose01_PIP
---

So I gave it a shot, but it doesn't recognize it. Can someone help tell me what could have gone wrong?

Okay, change everything. Actually, I realized that the _KEY saying Template.dll is not right. in S3PE, I made a new .package and put my pose in it, I realized a _KEY automatically came up with it (I don't understand why because it didn't the first time), then I added a _XML and typed in the info. for the <ICONKEY> part i put in just the name of my pose because I don't have a picture yet. I used the PoseBoxFlareGenerater to give me the digits to give to the _XML and _S3SA. Is this alright? What could be wrong if it doesn't work?

Have you had a look at this tutorial? http://cloudwalkernz.blogspot.com/search/label/Tutorial

Oh, yes, I know that one. I managed to figure it all out except my pose doesn't appear on the list. I can type it in the 'select pose by name' thing and it then appears, but it isn't in the other list you get from downloading poses. I'm confused on that.

What file does the thumbnail need to be? is it a .PNG or JPEG? does it need a specific name like how all poses must have a_ at the beginning?

Can anyone tells me how to get my pose to actually show up on the list? My computer recognizees it, I set it up folllowing the above tutorial, and it is actually in the poseplayer, it just isn't on the list.

I've followed tutorials to make sure it's correct. I put down the required _XML, _KEY, S3SA for the package, and I went on the game, my pose was not on the list but if I typed it in the search part, it would appear. I thought alright, because I needed to get a thum of it. After that I exited out and opened the package, adding the thum to it, but when I played the game, it still wasn't there and I can't figure out what I did wrong. Cany someone help? or is there a tutorial like this one:
http://cloudwalkernz.blogspot.com/search/label/Tutorial
Its helpful but it starts right off the bat saying you already have your thums and when I finish my pose, ofcourse I don't have it yet. I followed it EXACTLY, so something is wrong

Thanks

First question, when you named your .S3Sa resource in Step 4 (IIRC it should be step 4) did you remember to include the extension? That is, did you rename it with a name that ended in .dll? You need to be sure you included this extension in the name field when naming the _XML in the next step also. The tutorial posted along with the download works but you do have to follow it exactly.

wait, when you say a name that ends with .dll, do you mean the 15-digit number name you obtain from the poseboxflare? I name the s3sa but are you saying you're supposed to name it the code given by the poseboxflare, PLUS the .dll at the end?

New question. I been comparing my package with another downloaded one and I noticed that the already done packages in S3PE have Chunckoffset or Filsize or Memsize hex. On mine they are Chunckoffset 0xFFFFFFFF and Filesize is 0x00000000. The already done one has hex like 0x00001744(Just an ex.) Does that mean anything?

Have you been able to successfully get a pose into the game at all?

Well, one of my poses actually appeared in the game, but it didn't show up on the Pose List even though I put a thumbnail in for it. How do the hex for those appear? At one point the hex did change (cant remember it) but the picture STILL doesn't appear. I'm gonna start all over again, exactly from the tutorials to make sure, but I'm not very positive.

let me ask; after you convert the SMD back to a Clip and are about to package the CLIP, do you import the .animation or the .animation.bak00 ???

in the tutorial on modthesims, after you finish making your pose, you just import it into the package then place the package in the mods folder
"2. Open S3PE and Click File. From the dropdown menu select New.

3. Click Resource button (it's two over from File button) and from the dropdown menu select Import/From File. Navigate to your working folder and select your CLIP. Save without making any changes to the text or numbers. The item you want to import is the .animation.
Place the package in your Mods folder. Make sure you've also got the Pose Player in your Mods folder. Check your new pose in game."

Is that really ALL you are supposed to do? Or do you need to add the neccessary things like the XML and S3SA?

okay, never mind that. I managed to figure it out. I think I've been having a hard time reading it and kept skipping over key parts. Now, does the thumbnail need to be png?

Thanks. I was having a tiny issue where the pictures weren't appearing but the poses where on the list. One of them had their picture, but the others did not.

Thanks. I was having a tiny issue where the pictures weren't appearing but the poses where on the list. One of them had their picture, but the others did not.Did you put this line: </PoseList> only at the very bottom of your _XML code? That should only be on the list once and it needs to be at the end...not between each individual pose's code. If that's how you have it and it still isn't showing up could you post the _XML code you have that isn't working?

oh, that wasn't the problem, but thanks, I'm gonna try it over again, CAREFULLY. Just one little question though, when you turn the SMD back into a clip, two .animation files appear. One is the .animation.bak00 and the other is the regular .animation. Is it okay to delete the .animation.bak00 or is that needed somewhere????

Have you read the thread for the pose tutorial? There's a lot of basic information in it that wouldn't all fit in the tutorial itself...you might find it helpful. :)

Aahh..new question... when you are making a pose, how do you get them to lay down on the ground. Iam currently working on one, but for some reason when I test it on the game, it is the pose done correctly, but is in mid air. Does anyone know what's wrong? How can I fix that?
