Hi, I first joined here awhile ago. I think it was just mod the sims back then, as in the sims 1. I loved the creations and the hacks and when I scored the sims 2 this was my first stop.
Then the drama happened, my computer started to get a bit shaky loading the sims 2, then the gameplay started to fail, each jerk of the camera may have been the last. It took like, maybe 2 minutes to load one new camera view. The Sims had become extremely unenjoyable, almost gut wrenching. I started to look into making the stuff myself and got a pretty good handle on blender, but without the game, I couldn't check any of my creations so the joy was quickly sucked out of that too.
So a couple of years go by, and I score a sweet little laptop. I loaded the game up and it wouldn't even go once. It just loaded forever. Honestly, I felt like crying (might more than just felt like it!) The whole time I was buying my laptop and anxiously waiting for its arrival all I could think about was "Yes, I can play the sims again!!" So not fair.
Another year goes by and my mother gets herself a new laptop, flash one and all she plays in solitare and mahjong. She doesn't even have the internet, just solitare and mahjong. So she proposes a swap and I start drooling. She's happy with my now old comp (I think its because its red) and I'm playing on the net with her new zippy number. After examining my old bookmarks I find one for modthesims2 and a lightbulb went off. I hadn't even tried to load up the sims 2 on the new one because old experiences had soured me but in the end I did.
And it worked!!! I jumped up and did a happy dance, and have been doing happy dances ever since. Its wonderful! The long painful loading times are so short now, and no freezes when I'm playing the camera movement is continuous and smooth and my sims are even in 3d now (not like movie 3d, I mean 3 dimensional polygons not flat pixellated blobs) I never knew they looked so awesome!
