I can't really say I'm surprised either to be honest. Ignoring the GP's advice to stop drinking and doing it anyway? She only had herself to blame for that one.

I can't say I was a huge fan of her, but it is still sad, especially as she managed to kick the drug habit- just not the drinking one.

I don't listen to her music, nor do I know much about the poor girl, but I still feel bad for her.

I like her music and it's sad she died from such a preventable cause.

What's really terrible about this is that from the details in the article, she really WAS trying to get help for her addiction and kick it. It seems like alcoholism really had a powerful grip on her. I agree that it was basically her fault, but it's awful that her illness was too much for her to control.

It's because she said no to rehab ;D See what I did there? :)

It's true you have to wait a while after somebody dies before it's funny. (Like Michael Jackson, for example.)

This reminds me of the time a kid seriously asked at a convention I was at after another was hauled away for alchohol poisening "What is wrong with alchohol poisening?" Well kids, here is your example. Alchohol has not only the power to kill brain cells but the whole brain as well. Rehab maybe for quitters, but so are funerals.

Wait... So if you have drinking and drug problems, there's really no way to completely get rid of it? Even if you kick the addiction, you still end up messed up because of it?

if your big enough drinker and drug user, yes. It damages not your brain, but your liver, and the rest of your organs as well; even your respitory system. Even after your addiction is gone you still run the risk of relapse so it's a constant temptation.

5MOK3 why don't we do some human testing XD got any of those extra husbands to test this on?

There's also the problem of what lead to the addiction in the first place. Often times, the use of drugs and alcohol is self-medication of some nature. But, it's a vicious cycle because while it takes care of pain temporarily, it can lead to greater and greater chemical imbalances and deeper depression or anxiety. My heart goes out to her and the people that loved her.

After awhile, the addiction itself becomes the primary problem, because it certainly doesn't fix anything. It just makes everything worse and harder to deal with.

I am brokenhearted for Winehouse, not because I liked her music. I don't think I ever heard any. But even from her song Rehab (read the lyrics) it is obvious that this girl was in trouble. I watched a video of her last concert in Spain a couple of weeks before she died. I saw her stumbling around the stage and mumbling so bad that her backup singers had to sing the lyrics. I thought then that if that poor girl didn't get some immediate help, she wouldn't be with us for long.

I wish and hope that her death won't be in vain and that someone who needs help will get it because of what happened to her.

Hey, go mad. :D In the meantime, can't we just test on all of us?

If we weren't discussing someone's death, this might be funny.

At least I'm not making fun of the dead person... Like Franko erm... Something.
