A lot of people complain about the shit that happens in our lives. One of my best friends' mother, before every dinner that they sit down to, everybody must state one reason why they are/what they are thankful for and briefly explain. So what are you thankful for and why?
I'm thankful that my home has heat, for example. I called my best friend, who lives far away from us in California, and she suddenly said that she hated her brother. I asked why, and she said that it's -2 degrees outside where she lives, and in order to stay warm, she has to hug her brother and her brother bites her all the time. They also don't get hot water unless they boil water on the stove and fill a bathtub. So I'm thankful for heat.

I thank my mom now, coz she forgets to wake me up. Then, I don't need to go to school. Seriously, it's one thing that a teenager would like to thank! :D

I'm thankful that my new medicine is working better than the last stuff. I'm thankful that my family has taken care of me since I got sick (though they bug me A LOT). I'm thankful that my boyfriend's death hasn't kept him from being with me all the time. I'm thankful for my precious cat, Tweedledee. (He went as Tweedledum for Halloween.) I'm thankful that conservatives have some good candidates running for election in 2010. This is in the USA. I'm thankful, first of all, of course, for my Savior, Jesus Christ. I'm thankful the long, hot summer is over. I'm thankful for the food in my fridge and the air conditioner and heater in my home.
That's enough for now. See, I can do more than complain. lol

It is the season for Thanksgiving here in the US. This is a good thread to have to remind all of us that we do have a lot to be thankful for. Every last one of us has enough money to buy computers and internet, so we are not starving. We have homes. Most of us have family and friends. We really should remember to be thankful for all that every day.

I'm thankful I still have my mother and father with stable jobs and a roof over my head and food to eat.
I'm also thankful for the NHS in the UK so I get free healthcare.

I'm thankful I have a husband with a decent-paying job and a place to live. A small 2-bedroom apartment beats Cardboard Box #3 on Skid Row any day.

I am grateful for the people in my life and that each day is like a new beginning. Maybe it's sleep I'm grateful for then. I love sleep.

I love my Honey for everything, because if we had never met some years ago, I would be depressed and alone, for some bad reasons...and would be dead because of a very personal reason...
So everyday is like a NEW life now, when we wake up together every morning :)

i'm thankful that, so far, in the U.S., thanksgiving has gone unmolested and violated by advertisers. but then, theres no money to be made off of gratitude...so they seem to be skipping thanksgiving entirely and moving on to christmas.
in november.
other than that, im thankful for my family. im thankful for all the crap in my life, good and bad, because its helped shape who i am today and i like who i am. im thankful to live in a city that, for the most part, doesnt have much crime.
im thankful to not be allergic to cats. im thankful for my parents...who never tried to force me into specific molds for the sake of molding. im a person, not putty or clay. im thankful every day that they understood that deeply. im thankful for my brothers...theyre kind souls, and i hope life in the U.S. doesnt beat that out of them anytime soon.
im thankful to have shelter. im thankful for hot showers on cold winter days. im thankful for my pets, both past and present. they taught me as much about being a human as they taught me about what being an animal is about. you can never respect nature too much, i think, and folks have forgotten that.
im thankful to have food nearly every day. im thankful that i have money when i need it. im thankful to have the internet and its bounty of entertainments. im thankful for my self-improvements, great and small.
im grateful for all that i have, and all that ive had.

I'm thankful for my family and being able to grow up in the great environment I was. My family may not be perfect, but they do care a great deal for me. They have provided me with my needs and so much more, and still do to this day.
I'm thankful for my dogs - who I consider a part of my family. They bring a smile to me everyday. I wasn't a dog person for the longest time, but now I couldn't be without.
I'm thankful for being alive. Being young does not make us invincible.
I'm thankful for my friends. Some of them have been really great to me.
I'm thankful for my grandparents and their decision to buy me my bassoon. It may just seem like an instrument - an object, but it has been so much more. I wouldn't be a Music Major today without it. I would have just given up on music and I wouldn't have any goals or anything to achieve in my life, I would be aimless.

I am thankful for zombies. Zombies are fun. Where would the world be without zombies to eat our brains? A bad place, that's where.

I am thankful for a great group of friends who are pretty much always nice to me and who haven't influenced me to try alcohol or drugs.
I am thankful for my 2 very nice parents and my sister, who is also my best friend, and who I never fight with.
I am thankful for electricity, running (hot) water, food on the table.
I am thankful for all the little things too, like the Internet, The Sims 3, Mod the Sims (lol).
I'm thankful that I am alive.

Maybe not as heartfelt as everyone else's, but I'm thankful for movies.
