Hi, a friend of mine is selling his gaming computer and the spec is as follows:
CPU: intel i5 2500
HDD: OCZ Vertex SSD 60G and additional 1TB HDD
Graphics: EVGA Geforce GTX550Ti
Ram: DDR3 1600 Game memory 2G x4
PSU: Cooler master 700W extreme
OS: Windows 7 Prof 64 bit

I only play sims 3 on my computer so I'm not sure if this computer would be just too good and the Sims 3 will not take full advantage of this computer.

My current computer spec is:
CPU: intel Core 2 Duo E7500 @2.93GHz
RAM: 4GB
Graphics: HD4350 512mb DDR2 1GB Hyper Memory

The problem I have with my current computer is that because I have tons of custom contents, when I go into CAS it takes time for the custom contents to show up on the slider and whe I'm playing the game, the custom contents furnitures show up white and takes to look normal (ie coloured) everytime I zoom in and out of the birds eye view of the town.

So basically I want to get a new computer that will help wih these issues and I'm not sure if a better computer is the way to go? Do I just have too many CCs and a better gaming computer will not help load CCs quicker?

Thank you!

Your new computer is defiantly spec'ed up and would be a very nice upgrade, perhaps I would recommend and would lie others who have tested it, I would recommend installing sims and its custom content on the SSD. One other thing is the ram, perhaps only two 4gig would make more sense, but anyway. Enjoy your new system

That's going to be more than good enough to run The Sims 3.

However, and I feel the need to say this so you aren't disappointed, custom content WILL take ages to show up since the game has to load it all. I have a computer that's a bit faster than the spec you listed (4Ghz CPU and a Radeon 5870) and it still takes a while for all my custom content to load in. That might change if I installed The Sims 3 to my 60GB SSD rather than my 1TB drive... but yeah... it's limited by your drive's loading and caching times.

The game should run quite a bit better though. :)

Thanks all for your advice. I've got the computerfor a real good deal and I'm picking it up this weeknd. I'll install it on SSD and see if the CCs are loading quicker. I certainly hope so!
