Hello, everyone ! ;)

I was wondering if it could be possible to create a mod to make pets' eyes more realistic ?

Mod? Why? Recolors are what you are looking for. Realistic eyes are from excellent texturing.

I am waiting and hoping for more realistic default replacements, but I am wondering if a fix for the eyes is needed as well. Somebody here asked how to get rid of the black spots in the pet eyes (I did not reply there because the thread was from October) and they can be seen in the picture above - on the side of the pupil - as well. It seems to me that those are the reflections which are supposed to be white, but turn black when you leave CAS. If you zoom in so close that the rest of the pet begins to disappear you can see them very clearly and also that they are not part of the eye colour. I am sure the eyes could be done better, but the black "reflections" are one of the main reasons why the eyes looks so dead.

Strange! I took a look at the cat eye mesh and it's set to use the same shader as the human sim eyes so I'm puzzled why those reflections seem to be black. I even copied the human values to the cat mesh and it made no difference, unless I messed up somehow.

I also checked the specular, and nothing seems to be wrong with it. Seems like something is just rendering wrong(bug). I've made default eyes(currently in queue) but the dots are still there.

Does anyone else get this weird thing where you zoom in on an animal and it disappears, then reappears when you get a little closer?

I agree, probably a basic rendering problem.

I really do not know anything about creating in Sims 3 (I think I will have to start looking at files soon to understand the basic structure) but could it be some sort of alignment problem? I changed the eye colour of the (stray) cat above a few times to see if it made a difference and switching back from CAS to game I noticed that they only have one reflection in the eye, but there are two black dots in each eye. Maybe they should be on top of each other?

I could be completely wrong with my theory, but in CAS those black dots don't show and the reflection is there. They are also the right size and in the right place. Actually, once I noticed that the eyes have no reflection in-game, I was surprised I did not see it earlier. I created a lot of faces in Sims 1, where you had the whole face instead of components and it always amazed me, what an immense effect two tiny white dots can have on the overall impression. I spent ages hovering over my graphic pad to put them in the right place, although sims were tiny back then. Apart from adding liveliness they also add dimension.
