:new: Over at the old Sims Community Forums we had one of these threads. (Psst... we also have one in The Girls Club social group if anyone wants to join ) I'm not sure if it somehow got purged with the transition to MTS or if it's lost in the mass of threads but here's a brand new shiny thread for you Simmers.
I'll start:
Today I paid it forward at Wholes Food by offering to pay for the groceries of the gentleman behind me in line. My bestfriend just saw the film "Pay It Forward" last week and has been getting on my nerves about "paying it forward" to someone, I go "but no one paid it forward to me yet?" And she hands me one of her bitten fish sticks and goes "their, the act of sharing" The man didn't let me pay for his groceries however, as he said he couldn't let me do that, but he did let me put them in his car for him, and said it was such a kind gesture he would consider paying for someone elses groceries the next time around. So their, I paid it forward and the guy said he would pay it forward so my best friend can leave me alone!

I actually had a really, really crappy day, but my friends made it better. Basically, I took on too heavy a course load this semester and, after taking the final today, I'm pretty sure I failed one of my classes. It's a class that they only offer in the fall, the prerequisites place it as a senior year class, the teacher is the worst teacher I've ever had, and it is required for me to graduate, which means that I'm going to have to postpone grad school to come back for that one class next fall. On top of that, my current lab PI told me that there wasn't a place for me in the lab rotations next semester and I was rejected a couple of days ago for another, admittedly competitive, internship I had applied for. So I'm looking at my college timeline being screwed up - not to mention a hefty drop in my GPA - and I'm in lab work limbo, as I have to wait for an email response from another professor I emailed to see if I can continue to do some kind of lab work next semester, which is absolutely critical for my desired career.
So I basically had a meltdown. I almost never cry, and I was really trying not to, but, when I got back to my room, I couldn't hold it in. I woke up my roommate and her boyfriend - two of my closest friends - and they were really comforting. They hugged me, reassured me, and made me laugh. We played Magic and then watched a movie together, and, while I'm still rightly concerned about how things are going to go, it doesn't feel like the end of the world anymore.

I kinda made my own day by making my familys day. My parents were napping so I decided to make dinner for every one I made pork shoulder steak and potatoes and my mother was happy she didn't have to cook and got to eat something other than raman noodles and my brother was so pleased with dinner too so that made my day.

Presentation (of ideas) skills? You could use those, of course! It's all in how you market yourself. And who knows: if you are lucky you will find a job that gives you some satisfaction and allows you to pursue or revel in some of your passions.

Today ------ > Watching my boyfriend play Sims 3. It was something he never intended to do, but he's setting up his new computer and wanted to install The Sims 3 for his children. This is a man who usually operates on one side of the brain only and whose idea of a good computer game is Soduko or cards. I told him he had to play a little after each installation. He made a blue Sim and was totally random on her traits and tastes. It was hysterical to listen to him be so concerned about fulfilling her needs and wants. He kept me updated with a blow by blow play of everything she needed as I made lunch and did dishes. I wish I had a movie camera. His kids would be impressed.

How short? I was possessed the other night and took off a few inches myself. Then I got wild and put in some bangs. I don't like it, but it's hair and it will grow again, so....

Actually not much sorter, just got a really good hair stylest that understood I love the length of my hair but I wanted change. In matter of fact the back of my head following the curviture of my skull down is cut short short. the rest is long. What she did is first cut the back short, trimmed off little over an inch, then she cut some of my bangs starting at nose length then tapered down to the length of my hair. Then she Thinnned it. Looked like a freaking wookie exploded by the time she was done. I love it, right now my hair is in braided pig tails which i havn't done in a LONG time because my hair was just to thick to bother.

You can say that, but for poeple with thick hair it's just a PITA. XD I envy those with thin hair. Thin manageable hair. Thick hair really is not an advantage. Takes longer to get it cut, it's heavy, hot, and you cannot style it as easly. Never mind trying to straighten it. God my arms would fall off trying. XD

Considering how short your hair is now, have you ever considered a pixi cut. I hear it's a great cute cut to get especially when you end up with a really icky hack job.

My little sister told me today that she doesn't like Justin Bieber. That certainly made my day a little brighter; especially considering we're going on a short road trip later this year and since my Ipod is busted, we'll be listening to hers (I hate the radio). My hair is still fairly long - just much shorter than it was. I love pixie cuts but can't afford them since you have to keep trimming styles like that to keep them looking good.
While it's not my type of music, it has a good sound. I can see how you would enjoy that.

Speaking of pets, I woke up this morning to find my cat sleeping inside his carrier ON the pillow I bought for him like 6 months ago. You may say it's not a big deal, but it's like the 3rd pet bed I got for him over the years and that he avoided like the plague, choosing instead to sleep in other places like in the laundry basket, in the dresser on top of clean clothes, the sofa, inside various empty plastic basins he found laying around the house, or inside his carrier on a bunch of newspapers, or on top of his carrier ever since I put the pet pillow inside it about a month ago.

For me, it's just the little things:
Hearing a song I love come on the radio, making progress at my new job, my new job itself, and I saw a guy who obviously loved his kids patiently playing with them (I have a huge soft spot for good dads).
LuvSims: Oh god, the old Burger King-- I loved the fact that they included the bit where the guy wakes up to him in bed next to him, that one was one of my favorites, even if it leaves me confused as hell; I never can decide whether to find it hilarious or be horrified by it. Why am I laughing and trying to scream in terror at the same time?! lol.
Since it's beyond obvious that you're a huge Animaniacs fan, and because someone mentioned paying it forward at the beginning of the thread, I thought you might like a couple of links. Not sure if you visit ThatGuyWiththeGlasses, but in case you don't he's got a couple of vids you might like:
His list of the Top 11 "Naughtiest" Moments in Animaniacs (http://thatguywiththeglasses.com/videolinks/thatguywiththeglasses/nostalgia-critic/221-the-top-moments-in-animaniacs)---by "naughtiest" he just means the jokes targeted more towards adults which they managed to slip past the censors.
And his Animaniacs Tribute (http://thatguywiththeglasses.com/videolinks/thatguywiththeglasses/nostalgia-critic/27440-animaniacs-tribute) vid, which is in three 20-minute segments and features a ton of interviews and the like from the creators, writers, and voice actors (even more than what's on the Animaniacs DVDs, according to some of the people posting comments).
Hope you enjoy!

I'm going out with a guy agian on monday, if things go well like last monday he said he'll date me. What made my day besides this? Well it seems like yet agian we'll be coordinating our underwear. This all started when I said my favorite color was green and he said randomly he has green underwear and I replied back to him well I have orange underwear (his fav color is orange). It makes my day to know I might have a chance to date a guy almost as crazy as I am.

You're welcome (sorry it took so long to reply back), I like to try to do what I can to help others out/ make others smile.
On Sunday, I sort-of thought up/figured out a new recipe (http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=466379&goto=lastpost)---kinda---and spent my day off making a big batch o' pancakes (so I could munch on them over the next few days).
The day before that was a pretty good one too. I recently started a new job at a hotel a few weeks ago, and that day, someone had booked one of the large meeting rooms for their kid's party, and the group also had use of the indoor pool, which drove them absolutely bonkers with excitement (seeing as how you usually don't get to go swimming in the middle of January). Just seeing them yelling and diving and splashing in the pool just brought a smile to my face. Then, on top of that, it turned out that I would be able to make it to my cousin's bridal shower after all (I thought that I would have to miss it due to work), and ended up finding a seat just as she got to my present to her! On top of that, the shower had a very fun/interesting-looking Mardi Gras theme, and the most delicious cupcakes I'd probably ever eaten (one chocolate flavored, and the other, cherry limeade--it may sound odd to some, but it was damn tasty!). I have to see if I can possibly bum the recipe off of my mom, who said that she was going to try and get it from the woman who made the cupcakes.

I had a good evening last night at Morris practice too. It was the right amount of exercise - enough to work the muscles but not so much as to make me sore and tired. But now I can see that I need to work on my strength and stamina if I'm going to be ready for spring.

I was in the library for hours studying, and there was this really pretty girl sitting in front of me. She went outside with her friend for a while, and when she came back, she handed me a note saying I had awesome hair! We spent pretty much the rest of the time in the library flinging notes at each other, until she gave me her number, and now after texting her for a while, I found out that we have the exact same interests. And she's going to the library again tomorrow too.
Sounds a bit cheesy, but it really did make my day.

Also, this song. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MbYB8pvAcfY&feature=related) When you can't go on YouTube without tripping over five mile-a-minute Dubstep vids anymore, it's nice to see a song like this that is just chill for once (not to mention has nice vocals). This week has been horrid, lots of bad news, problems, mean customers at work (not to mention the managers were all at a conference), so today my laptop's cd/dvd disk drive gave up the ghost. I tried to problem solve (which I found out I'm useless at), I then shopped around couldn't find anything I could afford or there was no stock at any stores in town, which is not good as I'm currently on a tighter budget then normal and need the drive by the end of next week.
Then, only half an hour ago, a friend made my day - giving me a link to a website that not only had what I was looking for, but had it at the best price yet and could ship overnight. That made my day :D

More irony news. (http://movies.yahoo.com/news/pattinson-says-may-too-old-return-twilight-171638291.html) I don't really hate the franchise, and, quite frankly, hearing people bitch about it is sometimes just as annoying as the series itself, I really just want it to go away and not have it shoved in my face anymore. That said, however, I do like my little dashes of irony.

Then I get home and after we say goodnight and part ways (we're neighbours) my dad starts reminiscing out of the blue with me over cups of coffee he showed up with! About how I had my Barbies but I wasn't satisfied with them all being blonde so I went and got a bunch of different-looking Barbies so my collection would be diverse. Plus there was a Barbie in a kimono that was just to die for, I still have her in the box. I was only three or four, I think. And the time, when I was five years old, I had to pick out a book for reading for school at home and I started reading Carrie by Stephen King. I have a picture of it but it's in a box somewhere. :)

My mom is hilarious.
We were watching TV, and I'm about to fast forward through the commercials. She hears the name "Booker T. Washington, Fredrick Douglass, Harriet Tubman..." and says "Wait! Those are the school names!" (of course, this is a commercial for Tosh.0, and essentially it's premise is 'why not celebrate Black History Month by watching a white comedian that makes a lot of racist jokes?') so:
"Wait! Those are school names!"
"... What."
"Those are names of schools! I know that!"
"Hahaha! What the fuck are you talking about?"
"No no, go back. I want to see why they have schools named after them!"
"That's not what that commercial is."
"Well, then I just want to see them!"
"Do you know who Booker T. Washington is?"
"He has schools named after him in Texas- 'Booker T. Washington Elementary'."
"HAH! Do you know who Harriet Tubman is?"
"... Oh, I dunno. The first slave to ride a bus?"
"pfff. No!"
"Hey, don't laugh at me, I didn't go to school in Texas!"
"It didn't happen in Texas!"
"Whatever I just want to see them."
So I rewind and the commercial plays- it shows each of their portraits for about 2 seconds, then ends with "Suck it, Whitey."
She says "Hm. I didn't know that."
God, I love her.

This happened yesterday but it still made my day,
A squirrel a couple weeks ago made a nest in our shed, we didn't really think anything of it since it was still freezing and we didn't need anything out of there yet, so we just left it. Yesterday my mom decides we need to do some yard work since its going to rain the next couple days. Me not wanting to be bothered fell asleep on the couch so she couldn't bug me. I think an hour or so later I wake up and she is on the phone hysterically laughing about something, when she sees I'm awake she starts telling me her tale. She went out to the shed (while she was on the phone with my aunt) to get the lawn mower, she said she banged a couple times on the shed to make sure the squirrel wasn't in there. So she opens the door and grabs the lawn mower, as she does that the squirrel pops out of nowhere and dives at her. She screams and throws down her phone and runs away across the yard with the squirrel chasing her. I don’t know how long the thing chased her but she said she looked like a straight up fool!
Now today just to annoy her I randomly scream "SQUIRREL" whenever I see her.

My nephew loves trying to help me make my bed, mostly because he loves shaking the sheets and then running into them before they collapse to my bed. He's still my little helper though.

I went clubbing last night (a rare thing indeedy) as I get picked on a lot (I'm a big girl and drunk guys think its funny to make fun of me.. anyway), my friend and I went to leave and getting out of a crowded club is no easy feat! After excusing, sorrying and generally barging my way through the crowds, I got to the door and low and behold some young guy was blocking the door! I dunno why but he noticed we wanted out and actually opened the door and held it open to let us out! Very nice about it (an no he was not a bouncer). That made my day today, after having drinks spilt on me and a few drunk guys think it was funny to pick on me, having a polite guy hold open a door was just soo nice. It made me smile. :D

I have a horrible relationship with my mother. As in, we barely get to have any kind of conversation without screaming or fighting. But today I was feeling extra depressed when she asked what was wrong. I ended up admitting a problem at school and she actually listened, we talked and she offered some very good advice. We didn't scream, raise our voices or anything. It felt so wonderful to finally be able to talk to my mom without fighting over something. :anime: I can't tell you how much better I felt afterwards. :lovestruc

One of the radio stations I listen to actually did a broadcast from a local St. Louis store called Sunshine Daydream (http://www.sunshinedaydream.com/) today. I don't think that there were even that many people who are honest "supporters," I think that most of the people who came out were (like me) slightly immature and found it funny.

Feathers the Clown.
I work at a hotel, and someone rented out the meeting room for a kid's party, and just as I was getting off of work, I see a bright yellow car (I think it might have been a KIA) with the phrase "Feathers the Clown" on it, being driven by a clown who looked a little down about the fact that they couldn't find a good parking spot (the lot was a little full). At some point they ended up driving into the parking lot (which borders the hotel's parking lot) of the gas station next to us (I'll admit, getting in and out of the parking lot is a little bit confusing the first time you try to drive through it). Even though I know that they were just turned around or trying to go in the back way, my mind instantly had Feathers saying "Okay, screw this, I need a beer before I can deal with this shit." :giggler:
I dunno, it just really made my day for some reason.

As much as I like my hotel job, it just wasn't paying the bills, so I got a second job, which I started today. When I applied it was for the office, but I ended up getting hired working in the warehouse. Huh. But I still like it, and it was interesting, and now I'm learning to drive what I guess can be considered heavy equipment. It's a pallet lift/pallet truck (it sort of looks a little like this (http://www.directindustry.com/prod/tcm/electric-pedestrian-pallet-trucks-14124-721065.html), only larger, and, you know, not BRIGHT EFFING PINK), and I kind of liked learning to use one. I was a little disappointed that it wasn't an actual forklift, which is what I was given the impression that I would be trained to use, but, like I said, I liked learning to use it, and besides, I could always try and get them to let me train to use the forklifts eventually (which means that's one thing I can cross off the old Zombie Apocalypse Preparation Checklist).

Another thing I like about it is the interesting design. It's a refrigeration warehouse, but what makes it cool is that they built it into an old quarry that was no longer in use, so you're basically working inside of a giant man-made cave; most of the walls are just straight up limestone rock with twenty or more foot high shelves built in front of it. It's definitely very cool-looking, and once I can get a new laptop which can actually handle the sims (which I will be able to procure sooner because this job pays a lot more), I intend to build a lot based slightly upon it to upload (if I can't get it accepted here, I'll try and get it up at Garden of Shadows--when I finally get off my ass and make an account there), which will be a great zombie apocalypse stronghold for sims.

So you know how if you spill salt, you get bad luck? Well yesterday, i spilled a little salt. So you know how to counter it you have to throw some salt over your shoulder? Well I did that. Then as I was walking back to the counter, I slipped on the salt I threw over my shoulder. XD It hurt, but it was so ironic, that I had to tell my friend, and he ROFLed. It definately made his day. A bit bittersweet, but that's okay.
Plus there was an evacuation at my school because there was a gas leak in the pipe main down the street, so i got home at noon. :)

Went to see my mom earlier today, and, while all the kids were playing in the backyard, they found what (after some Google-ing) looks like a female Io Moth (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automeris_io).
http://www.butterflyfunfacts.com/images/io.moth.adult.eyes.6.jpg
They were enthralled by the thing, though that was understandable, since it was huge, like, the size of what a Lunar Moth (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Actias_luna) usually is.
It was cute and just raised my spirits a bit, which is important considering the incredibly bad note (http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=462440&goto=lastpost#post3856013) on which this day is unfortunately ending (hopefully the little guy'll get better really soon).

Thanks, I'm very dorky like that, like my take on the batman song, see below - taken from the corrupt a wish thread where VerDeTerre wants to know what my avatar is:
P.S. VerDeTerre, it's a picture of yellowman, he's about 15cm tall and is made of beads and wire. I made him years ago and I love him very very muchly. Whenever I look at him all I think of is the batman themesong *nunah nunah nunah nunah nunah nunah YELLOWMAN* (does jazz hands action) and of course using Yellowman instead of Batman and I can't help but smile a great big dorky grin :D
P.P.S. Yellowman's name is not meant to be offensive in anyway, quite simply he is yellow and I decided he was male and thus Yellowman happened. Same goes for the other ones I created, darkgirl, whitewoman, redfem and greenboy. They are in no way ever meant to be offensive, just a description of their colour and what gender I thought would best suit them. They all sit on my cupboard together having a great time, occassionally they get a new pose or position. In the avatar Yellowman is doing a little dance (you know how sometimes when your sitting you just want to have a bit of a dance but don't want to get up? yeah he's doing that).

Happy 16th yesterday!! I too turned 16 just...two months ago! Heehee :bunny:
What made my day today was that at school our year did a Leadership Building course, we talked about what it takes to be a good leader and the kind of qualities a good leader should have. We all took a piece of paper and wrote our name at the top then passed it right round the room (Our entire year is roughly 40 girls) and everyone wrote something nice about each person! It was really nice not only at the end when I got to read all the lovely comments from my classmates, but writing comments for others was really fun! It's nice to be able to express your emotions in that kind of way :)
