View Full Version : How was your Christmas Day?

I bet it wasn't as 'interesting' as mine! Umm...

We knew it was going to rain, and that there was supposed to be a thunderstorm. What we didn't quite expect was the hail - White Christmas, Aussie Style, the nearly 4 inches of rain in less than an hour, flash flooding...

Our block turned into a 6' deep river, took out all our fences and we were lucky - a lot of peoples' houses went under completely :(

So, how did you guys spend Christmas?

Longears, that does not look like a fun way to spend Christmas at all! Are floods common in your area? We get them in the spring, but, luckily, hail is rare. You did a nice job capturing it on film.

That looks like a lot of hail you had there, never seen so much, it almost looks like light snow. Sorry about your fences and the destruction it caused to other people's houses. I live in a city and during storms and such we usually get fallen trees or broken branches. Sometimes flying flower pots that people forgot to secure in place. Anyway, for Christmas, we had fog. It was cold and gloomy for a couple of days, I thought it would eventually snow but didn't happen. Today it's bright and sunny again.

Crikey! Mine was not nearly as exciting as yours - we just had my mother-in-law over and I cooked a successful meal (about which I was pleased).

Nothing as exciting as that..

Mine was a quite one with my son opening up his presents and later dropping him off to my ex. His mother.

Longears, that's pretty much what summers here in the UK look like! I thought you were supposed to get NICE summers down under. :)

We had NO SNOW, darn it, but lots of chocolate. *Yum*

Uh... it definitely wasn't as interesting as yours. That seriously womps! I hope everyone is okay.

My Christmas was spent watching my siblings open their presents and then fight over who gets to unwrap my presents for me (the usual). Pretty awesome.

No snow here either. And I'd be freaked out if it suddenly snow.

Anyway, I attended a Christmas Concert on the evening of the 25th, and there's a visit to art museum and documentary , but aside from that I have sermons from morning til night.

A typical Christmas for me consists of the police, drunk people, crazy family members, and lot's of screaming.

A great Christmas, no snow and decided to skip the family gathering and just order Chinese food, watched movies, and watched my little sister race other kids around the block on new bikes.

Do you live in Melbourne, by any chance? I do, and we had golfball sized hailstones Christmas day. While we were having dinner at my grandfathers the hailstones made holes in his veranda :x

And what sucks is that every day after has been lovely warm and sunny D:

Since I got my new laptop, on the 24th, my daily program is wake up, have breakfast, play games, have lunch, play games, have dinner, go to sleep. It was no different on Christmas, mind you, I spent it with my whole family, but, while the rest of them were at the table, I was on the couch, playing, and got up only to eat. It will be like this until college begins, I can't help it.

Busy. We went to early Mass and left Dan with Lunch. This explains why we ate at 3 pm. My Triplets and our 3 year old all had tantrums at the same time because they wanted to eat nothing but chocolate Santas and we had visitors as well and there are ten of us already, counting the baby. The weather was damp and muggy {as they say around here} and our 5 year old had a skeleton which he took apart and then lost a metatarsal which meant everyone was looking for it when the cats had it all the time. Later we had a group of Polish workers of Dans come round and sing carols to us. So we invited them in {anything to stop the singing} and had a dance which woke up one of the Triplets. I was exhausted as the Trips and BJ woke us up at 5 am. It was fun in a tiring sort of way though.

That I do. Not sure that I'd call the next few days warm and sunny though... did you know they're forecasting 38 for Monday? That means it should easily hit 40 here o_o

Terrible! The day before my friend's dad died

Terrible! The day before my friend's dad died My deepest sympathies. When I lost my mom a few years ago, it was over the holiday break as well. It can be rough. The holidays are hard enough when you remember those who are no longer there with you to celebrate. It's even harder when you remember them as an anniversary of death. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Really sorry to hear that Dordracio. I too know what it's like to lose someone around Christmas: my Grandad died 15th Dec 1999, so we saw in the Millennium in his old house... without him. :(

My Christmas Day? Painful. I slipped on the stairs the night before while carrying presents for the family and broke my right big toe.
Aside from that it was a normal family one - the opening of presents to find the obligatory pair of socks and a SECOND copy of "A Wayne In a Manger" (Mum forgot she'd bought me the exact same book a few years previously!), Christmas dinner with all the trimmings dished up not long after the Queen's Speech and playing Our Parson's Cat followed by My Grandmother Went to Market... while doing the washing up. Yes, my family is crackers!

Can't say much about Boxing Day either - I spent 3½ hours in A&E regarding the toe... with my Dad moaning about the wait!
