Trouble with 7zip.

I've been trying for a long time to get downloads to work on my laptop, and so far I haven't been able to install any. I think the problem is with the program I need to extract the files. I decided to use 7zip so I downloaded it. I read a guide to extracting files using 7zip and it said you should be able to right click on the file and it should say to use 7zip. However, it doesn't give that option. It says to extract here, but not using 7zip. When I click on the actual program, it wants me to install it again, but the program opens, so I know it's already installed... I don't know what to do, I've read probably every guide and so far, they all the same thing and I don't know what's wrong...

Which version of windows are you using?

I'm using Windows 7.

You can always reset the file associations in Windows Explorer. I'm not sure how to do it in Windows 7, but in Windows XP, I right click on the file and choose Open With... then Choose Program... Pick the 7-Zip File Manager and tell Windows to always use this program.

If it keeps prompting you to install again, means the associations are not set in the application. Sometimes, logging out and in would fix it (no reboot needed); sometimes, you need to do it in the Application Settings itself.

I missed that. Perhaps your best option is to uninstall the program, then reinstall.

Well, the good news is that I now have 7zip working. Unfourtunately, I must be doing something wrong because I can't seem to download anything. Well, at least they never show up in my game. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?
