Just for fun.
I keep my car pretty barren since I sometimes work early mornings and it just seems smart to not have my stuff in view but right now I have
x. Sleeping bag
x. Toothbrush and toothpaste
x. My motorcycle gear
x. My uncles buddha charm/rear view mirror decoration that I never took off
x. AND A LOT OF PARKING TICKETS
et tu?

I gotta agree with you on the parking tickets. I have so many in Alamo Heights I'm afraid to go there. xD

Backpack, mom's wallet (I can't drive, and we live far enough out of town a bike is useless, unless I want to be late to everything :P ), various coffee cards and coupons, whatever jackets and coats are left in the car, car manual, bungee cord, random crap...

-Textbooks from past semesters that I can never find when I need them.
-Blankets, because it's cold outside right now. Plus, I like to take naps in my car during breaks between classes.
-Shoes; just because.
-An empty box that I've been too lazy to take to the recycle bin.
-Empty water bottles from a road trip.
-A few posters are in my trunk from when I worked at a movie theater THREE YEARS AGO. Yeah, haven't moved them.
I think that's it.

Oh and I have a TON of empty bottles and whatnot. Come in handy when someone says they gotta pee. Shuts 'em up.

My son's sleeping bag that he left in my car; a cat carrier from when the stray cat I took in last March had to be euthanized and I never brought it in; some CDs; St Otto, patron saint of parking (I think he really works - I've gotten some amazing parking spaces since I hung him on the rearview mirror)

Rope, red rags for marking over-sized loads in case I pick up something, a blanket, a flashlight, bandages, paper and a pen, a large plastic bag and an old glove (in case of a need to move an injured animal), a baseball cap or a knit cap, depending on the season, an atlas. CD's, music and story tapes (Prairie Home Companion), toothpicks, cloth grocery bags, sunglasses.

Wow your guy's cars are empty comparied to when I had one. It went from emergency kit, spare tire, knife, trash, duct tape, tool kit, books, gater head, figurines (glued to the dash board), St. Micheal, St. Rapheal, random peices of clothes, converter, air pump... ... YEAH should mention I used to travel a lot too. XD Guess our clown don't count in this, cause he was duct taped to the atenna. Yeah his fingers broke off and only the middle one was left.

Bungie cords, red rags, furniture blanket, bag of sand, 3 wood planks, shovel, flares, jumper cables, first-aid kit, high-intensity "flashlight" that plugs into the thing that used to be for the cigarette lighter, but everyone now uses to plug their other stuff into, regular flashlight, windex, paper towel, TP, bucket, sponge, armor-all, sunglasses, CD carrier w/CDs, 5 one-quart bottles of blackberry/apple flavored water, old shopping bag with 1 empty water bottle and a snickers wrapper, clorox wipes, and a nearly empty package of parmesan goldfish.

I thought everyone had a spare tyre and tool kit. Anyway, apart from the rubbish (I really should throw that empty coffee cup in a bin), the only things I have in the car are window scraper (icy mornings for the use of), tissues (innumerable uses), some of those wet wipes (nice to be able to clean one's hands if necessary) and a bag full of books I use in two of my classes. Everything else is temporary and gets moved in and out (mainly laptops (mine and two for work - two different places), files and bits of paper). Oh and the dog (walkies!!). It occurs to me I could really use a car bin.

Wow your guy's cars are empty comparied to when I had one. LOL The OP asked us what we "kept" in our cars. I left out the stuff that ends up there that's supposed to go someplace else (trash, recycling, donations) or never made it in the house after work (books, notebooks, papers, etc...).

As you can see from my avatar - it's not really big enough to hold a lot of stuff so only de-icer spray, a UK road map, Haynes manual (it at least makes it look like I'm technically capable), CDs and a carrier bag full of paper rubbish - anyone who has kids on here knows how much of this they bring home from school. The not so good artwork and random unimportant letters...

I didn't count the spare tire because it's under the false floor of the trunk. I also didn't count the insurance card in the glove box. I did forget the window scraper.

I would agree with you with the spare tire I wouldn't have counted it if I would have been able to get it back into the false floor. Tried failed, gave up and left it... And I forgot the ice scrapper too. Always amusing living in CA to have one of those in your car.
And the way a dodge shadow is built the trunk is not seperate from the inside. You could easily sit in the back seat and reach over into the trunk and find stuff. XD

Lots of bottles and snack packages, loose papers, food scraps, pens and pencils all over the floor... Shows just how lazy I am. Also, my ID card is hopelessly lost somewhere in my car.

A purse-sized King James Bible, a tool kit, a first aid kit, chargers for our cellphones, and whatever my husband can't fit into our storage unit. Oh, and of course registration and proof of insurance, along with a tire gauge and fake parking tickets.

I need a tire gage.
Fake parking tickets? There's a story there.
