Consignment shop owner went AWOL

One day, I went to the consignment shop, and even though the owner was there, he was yelling at some townie sim so wasn't manning the cash register. When she left the store, instead of going back to his register, he started viewing art objects and playing in the mirror.

I figured that the fight with the townie threw him off and he'd come back the next day working as usual. But he never came back to work again. He just skipped out and the shop was left empty except for visitors. Eventually, he became an elder or died and then someone else was assigned his job. She showed up once -- and then she showed up for work, but didn't actually do anything. She just stood around looking at stuff and playing in the mirror.

I assume something went wrong with the cash register and it caused the NPC not to be able to do their job. I don't know how to fix it though.

Try deleting and replacing the cash register.

Either that, or use Twallan's Register Mod, with which you can manually assign a sim to a register.

You know, I think I have the Register Mod, but I've never actually used it. It may explain why the Townies were still selling stuff on consignment every night long after the owner went AWOL. They probably assigned themselves to the register, sold their items and unassigned themselves right afterwards.


I DIDN'T have the register installed. I don't know how the sims were sellinth items unless they get to 'cheat' and do it through story mod. I think it was well more than 5 days since the guy up and left town.

StoryProgression simply simulates the use of the Consignment register, it does not actually require a sim to be manning the physical object.
