Hello. I have all expansion up until Apartment Life (I recently uninstalled M and G because of this problem but I have it available too). I had been playing the game fine until I noticed a piece of custom content that was causing me to have to reset my sims a lot. So I decided to get rid of that piece of custom content. And then I decided to start all over from scratch. So I removed everything from my downloads folder. I'd been playing Belladonna Cove so I replaced it with a fresh copy from the programs file so the neighborhood wouldn't look for the custom content. I downloaded new custom content and went in to play the game. Everytime I launched the game it would freeze on over-waxing banisters and never get beyond that point. I then went to the FAQ and I have tried each and every step listed in order.
I created new user files as the last step. My game is already fully patched and up to date. Even with the new user files the game pauses in the middle of loading. Finally, I uninstalled M and G and decided to see if some of that SP's files were the problem. No dice. But I did notice for the first time (although I know it happened every time before that) that the starting intro animation has never played. I used to have the no intro mod installed but as I removed all custom content and started out with new user files, I assume it's not still active. Is there a way that this file could still be active? Could I still have custom content somewhere that the game is reading even though I have completely deleted it from the Sims 2 folders and there's no downloads folder in my Program Files as leftover relics (I checked). No that my most recent EP or SP is Apartment Life I tried to start the game, having it make fresh user files, but it still skips the animation screen without my touching it or pressing esc and gets stuck exactly half-way through at generating compatible roommates. It stays this way for over half an hour. Could this be a Windows 7 & or 64-bit problem? I know others have had it but up until now my game worked fine. I'm not sure what my next step is other than completely uninstalling and reinstalling but I'd rather not do this and if there's a way to avoid it I would like to do so. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
I have Windows 7 64-bit, 6g ram, 500 gb hdd, intel core i5-2410m, nvidia Gefore GT 540M w/ 1G memory
