What is the NPC bird?

When I choose add neighbor to family via tombstone of L&D I see NPC bird listed
what is the NPC bird exactly? I know it's not the season's penguin because it shows that listed as separate.

Presumably the pet bird in the cage.

yeah I was thinking that too unless there are NPC birds outside that I don't know about.
