Home bars cannot be used, only create an error.

I used to be able to have Sims (Sims2) use their home bars without problems. A few months ago, I had to delete and reinstall my games. Since then, if a Sim tries to mix drinks, or pour drinks, I get an error about the Sim him/herself, and it asks me if I want to reset, delete, etc. Once, I chose delete, and the Sim disappeared. I exited without saving to restore the Sim. Is there anything I can do to restore the functioning of the bars? All else is working the way it should. Thanks for any suggestions.

Does it do this in a clean game environment (fresh user files with no custom content)? Have you gone through the the FAQ?

try all of the steps in the above-linked FAQ, in order, and don't skip anything! Even if your specific issue isn't listed there, it's still a good idea to try those steps, to rule out the most common causes of game issues.
