View Full Version : CAW crashes when sculpting

When I sculpt terrain in a large world, CAW always crashes. I get that "attempted to read or write protected memory" message. I am only able to sculpt for about 5 seconds or so before this happens. I do not have a low-end computer, so I am wondering why this is happening?

I looked into the "CAW Problems- READ THIS FIRST!" thread, but when I read the solution for the problem, it said that if my game had one of the newer patches (which it does), there was no reason to follow the instructions on the page.

Hey Zepp, you are referring to this page?
http://simswiki.info/wiki.php?title=Sims_3:Large_Address_Aware
Where it says 'If your game is patched to 1.17/2.12/3.8/4.5/5.2/6.0 or newer, the necessary files are already large address aware so there is no reason to follow the instructions on this page', that is referring to The Sims 3 game- not Create-a-World.

The Create-a-World is not LAA, so you need to follow the instructions but instead of the game executable, make the CAW executable Large Address Aware.

Yes, that was the page I was referring to.
Oh, I completely misunderstood. I'm going to try out the tutorial now.

EDIT: Works like a charm! Thanks for the help.

@ simsample, I've been haveing the same problem as zepp but, not being computer literate....... not understanding the "instead of the game executable, make the CAW executable Large Address Aware" . how is this done without me messing things up ?

In the main CAW folder

Is this executable

Make a copy of it first for backup and stick it somewhere else
