I'm a fan of building LARGE houses, and I've put a lot of effort to the last one I built, so I decided to back it up before I format my computer.
I followed all the instructions listed here, but I still can't install the lot I backed up!
The file is attached - what ever I tried to do, it just won't install!!!
Please help!

What happens when you try to install it? What, exactly, are you doing - please list every step. :)

I tried to double click it(as with other content from the official website), and that loader doesn't even come up.
I tried to locate the file in that folder I'm instructed to in the FAQ, and the button that imports the lot in to the game in disabled when the lot is selected.
Did you have success in installing this lot?

Im having a similar problem too, I created a sim and it took a good few hours, I exported it in cas, Exported it on lot as sim, and also as houshold, I have the saves sitting there all three, yet i cant get them to install. The launcher "shows" that its installed, but once i load up the game, theres nothing. Once i quit out and go back to launcher the content doesnt show under installed anymore. Ive also tried unpacking them to .package files and trying to load them in the mods/package folder ... So i feel your pain ... Hope someone figures this one out soon cause its driving me insane ... I even did a full uninstall/reinstall last night so that i would have a clean game to test on today, And still nothing

For me it took about 2 weeks... I love building XL houses and it takes time...
But it doesn't even show to be installed on my computer...

I downloaded your mansion but its actng like an empty simpack, When i place it in the downoads folder and tick it, theres not even an install option to click on ... Ive tried extracting it to a .package, but thats not working either. I am wondering thought the file is about 6mb in size, now im no expert but even my sims "alone" are 20+mb, so im wondering if your game exported it correctly cause 6mb does seem really small for what it should be. .. As a note, i cant open it with merlin either, its as if its totally empty. Ill keep messing with it for a while though.
Well so far ive tried "Postal", that wont even open the file, I tried TSR Wizard, that loads up but shows nothing inside, Ive tried Sims3 pack explorer, but that comes up with an error and closes, i also tried sims3pack multi installer, but that wont extract anything from the package file. So unfortunately this is well past my knowledge, I can only asume as i said above, the game didnt export your home properly and made a complete mess of the file ... Hopefully someone else has a clue cause im stumped ... Sry

Is there a way to avoid this problem in the future? Can I assure somehow that the next house I build will be properly exported?

Well im no expert, but i have a few suggestions that have seemed to work with my similar problem exporting sims and lots ... After some digging around i narrowed it down to some CC package hair files that i think could be corrupt, Maybe if your problem is similar it could be that there is some custom content in your mansion that was corrupt and caused problems on export ... I think maybe try creating a new house, just something small (without CC), export it, delete it from the game (but keep the sims3pack from the export folder and put it in downloads) then restart sims and try installing it again, If that works, maybe the problem was CC ... Other than that, I really dont know enough about the game mechanics to suggest anything else, Sorry! ... Hope it works for you though

I use many cheats when I build houses. I put CC - game mods(like the one that gives you the option to add any gem) mainly, and many objects taken from the BUYDEBUG menu. Which one do you think might be the problem?
