Hello, thanks for anyone who is willing to take a look, I was just wondering if my PC will be able to run The Sims 2 before I go out and buy it.

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz Quad-Core Processor
Abit AB9 QuadGT Motherboard
eVGA Nvidia e-GeForce 8800 GTS Video Card
OCZ Platinum 2GB DDR2-800 Ram
Western Digital Caviar SE 500GB SATA/300 7200RPM Hard Drive

I was told on another website that the above specs will be able to handle Sims 2 on medium to high (though it doesn't hurt to get a second opinion), I know that I will probably need to install more RAM if anything. Thanks for any input!

It depends very much on which EPs you want to play. You're right in that the RAM is the weak spot: your graphics card is getting on a bit, but so is TS2! For basegame and the earlier EPs (up to about about OfB), you will have absolutely no problem and will probably be able to play with your settings pretty close to max. If you add later EPs - particularly Seasons and AL - you will have to turn down the settings, and will probably start wishing for more RAM, but the game will still be perfectly playable.

Thank you so much, I really appreciate the input, I was planning on adding more RAM (probably 2 sticks of 4 gigs).

More importantly I have all eps (no SPs), and 10 gigs of CC...does CC demand RAM space?

Be aware that unless your operating system will be 64-bit, the computer won't be able to recognize/utilize more than 3-3.5GB of RAM. (People with 32-bit OSs often have 2/2GB RAM sticks, knowing that some of that 4GB of total RAM will go unused.) That should be enough, though, to play with most settings on high.

CC mostly affects load times, regardless of RAM, IIUC.
