Alright, I know, I am probably in the wrong section. So first...Go me.

Anyway, here is my question to all the smart uploading peeps out there. Well...let me say this first. So, I built this epic freaking house. I mean it was sweet. And it shocked me too on how it came out. Getting off topic. I got the Store Edition when I bought: "Fun With Pets Collection"

UNFORTUNATELY! You have to download it along with everything else, or the games doesn't play. So, yes. Now to the question:

Since I have the Store Edition as well as Double Deluxe (because you have to have the base game to play *shrugs*)

Would I be able to upload the house? Or when I did so, the people would have to have the Store Edition to play that said house?

Because believe me, I'm all sorts of confizzled (Confused). Thank you for your time. :D

There is a filter for the Store Edition in the Downloads section. Therefore, I'm going to guess that:

1) Yes, you can upload the house.

2) Yes, people will require the Store Edition to play the house.

If you'd like confirmation, I am willing to try installing your house into my game, which has all EPs and SPs except the Store Edition.

You are awesome Mootilda :D So, I will see what happens with the house, and see if it works WITHOUT having Store Edition, I truly hope so, because it will just suck, ya know? -.-"

I believe houses built with Store Edition will work without it so long as the latest EP is something like Bon Voyage or later. :S I'll try to find a source for that information for you.

ETA: *sigh* Take it with a spoonful of salt. I'm starting to think I just imagined that tidbit of information. No idea where I ran across that, but I was sure it was on a reputable forum somewhere. However, anybody who installed a collection pack or has ever downloaded anything from the EA Sims 2 Store should already have Store Edition.

I did discover in the course of Googling, that Origin is now selling Sims 2 Store Edition on its own for 0.01$ US/CAN. I'm not sure I see the point in selling the Store Edition when, you know, there's no Sims 2 Store.

I would not believe that information. It is much more likely that the Store Edition is either 1) equivalent to the latest game engine (Mansion and Garden) or 2) later than M&G.

You're probably remembering information from back when Bon Voyage was the latest game engine.

I can think of a few obvious advantages to having the Store Edition, even though the Store is closed:

1) Latest game engine.

2) No CD required.

I was not aware installing the store edition was mandatory. I have always installed Fun with Pets without it.

The Store Edition is not mandatory, unless you are using Store content.

However, that doesn't help Nevermore Raven, since we're discussing an existing lot.

>.> Yes, it doesn't help me. GAH! If I would have known that, I wouldn't have installed it -.-" Grrrrr! But hey, I got some awesome stuff. SO YEAH ^.^ I am going to figure this out, and see if I can find something. If not, well, I hope that I can share this beautiful house with all of you ^.^

You should be able to share it without any problems. Just be sure to note that the house requires the Store Edition and everything should be fine.

Well, I was looking or snooping around to see if I could find anything. And basically all the Store Edition is, is the base game with the capability to download random cc from the EAStore o.O Because you have to have the Sims 2 Base Game to even have it, to play. Its weird *shrugs* I don't understand it all myself though. Lol. Thank you so much, Mootilda for helping out. I will see what will happen when someone tries to use it or whatever. :) But they will have to wait. ^.^ Still working on my new creation!

EDIT: I just need to know one thing. You see, I have some Custom Content in this house I'm making. So, my question is this:

Once I package the lot, will that CC still need a mesh to use, OR will it be in the package itself? o.O

Mootilda

Yes, CC will still require a mesh. Meshes are not stored in the lot package.

Both lots show that they were made with the Store Edition.

However, if they are installed using the Clean Installer to clear the version information, they will load properly in a game with all EPs and SPs. This means that the lot is compatible with both the Apartment Life and Mansion and Garden game engines.

Here is my suggestion: State that the lot requires the Store Edition. Add a caveat that the game is also compatible with either Apartment Life or Mansion and Garden if you use the Clean Installer.

Is there any other test that you'd like me to make?

No, that will do it. Thank you, so very much Mootilda :D Hehehehe. This means a lot to me :D Thank youuuuuuuuu

I decided to do one more test. Your lots will crash with FreeTime as the latest EP. This verifies my belief that the Store Edition uses the Apartment Life game engine, and not the Bon Voyage game engine as ForeverCamp suggested above.

Really?! Lame. Well, I did build a house WITHOUT using the "Store Edition" punkrockgoth1988, was right -.-" But I'm not sure if it will even load...Seeing that the others did crash :(

Thank you, Mootilda. I guess I can only hope that the house I did build, will be able to work then...Because that was done WITHOUT Store Edition :D ... >.> Never click run <.<

Run the Clean Installer on your Sims2Pack. Click on the lot and it will tell you the game engine at the bottom of the screen.
