So I decided to make some attempts at CAW. The shale terrain paint that's included is apalling so I was going to edit it. After combing the site for over 2 hours I haven't found anything to correct this issue so here it is for all you lovely people to assist with (hoepfully).

I've downloaded GIMP (normally i use PSP7) and attempted to open the dds files from the CAW folder for the terrain paints. GIMP has been spitting an error at me each time saying that dds is an unknown file type. Does anyone know if it is a problem with GIMP or what's going on? Here is the exact message, obviously my exact filepath is starred out

Opening ****\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 Create A World Tool\UserToolData\SourceTextures\grass_dry.dds' failed:

Unknown file type

You need the Gimp DDS plugin. I use Photoshop, so I'm not sure where you get the Gimp download. Should be able to find it on Google...

Ah ok, thanks, I've been using PSP 7 for years so switching to something new is throwing me for one hell of a loop.

Here are some plugins for GIMP:

It looks like you can, using the Nvidia Photoshop plugin and adding some dll files...

Again, being a Photoshop user, I can't vouch for any of this.
If you do try it, I'd be curious to hear how things turned out.

I'll check it out right now and post back the results

Wow! How does one get themselves banned installing a DDS plugin?
Perhaps I should have put in a stronger disclaimer.

Was it his username? I noticed if you transfigure it by moving the v, e, and g to the front, it's very inappropriate.

:wtf:

Thanks for replying. Usually I wouldn't even ask...the timing of it was just so odd that I wanted to make sure it wasn't related. Turns out to be a multiple personality disorder after all.
