View Full Version : Question about saving families and lots when reinstalling?

I just recently got Apartment Life. And I just built my very first apartment (in Pleasantview). But my game seems a little glitchy or something.

Whenever I want to turn my laptop volume up or down while playing, since the game is on fullscreen, I have to click FN + another key to change my volume, and whenever I do, it makes my game minimize. And then, I can't get it to come back up. I mean, the blue screen comes up with the curser rotating around, but then it just all goes back down. No matter how many times I do it.

So I end up having to just shut the game down, in some cases, force my laptop to shut down. And of course I lose my game if I haven't saved.

So, I'm wanting to just reinstall everything and start from scratch. I know I could just delete my game folder and let the game regenerate a new one to start over. But since my Expansion packs aren't installed in order, I'd like to take care of that.

I have the Base Game, University, Night Light, Pets, and Apartment Life

University was installed after Pets since I recently just got it along with the Apartment Life.

so.... anyway, since I'm going through the whole reinstallation....

Can someone tell me how to save my Apartment that I built??
And there are also a few families that I'd like to save

Can I save these things when doing a complete reinstallation of the game?

Here's how to backup and restore your save game:

However, you should probably try to figure out what's causing your problems before uninstalling and reinstalling your game. After all, reinstalling everything is unlikely to solve your problem, unless your installation happens to be corrupt (which is fairly rare).

Do the Game_Help:Game_Problem FAQ.

You might also want to provide your system specs:

The system requirements for Apartment Life are much greater than for Pets; perhaps your machine just isn't up to the added strain?
