View Full Version : Bulk extracting textures?

I have lots of adult underwear that I'm converting to teen by yanking the textures and putting them on existing teen meshes. I'm currently using SimPE to get the textures so that I don't wind up with zillions of projects cluttering up Bodyshop, and then using Bodyshop to make the teen packages, but it's getting a bit tedious. Is there any way of bulk extracting the textures?

Not that I know of. But that sure would've been helpful when I was doing age conversions!

It wouldn't be too bad if I could just extract the texture by right-clicking in SimPE's folder scan or something, but ugh, have to open every. single. one and then when I go back to to the scan results, it goes back to the start of the list. I think I've sprained my scrolling finger now. And I still have 32 boxers in this set I want to extract. XD

If you're using textures from the game, you can just copy the texture filenames into a text file and then use that to copy and paste with your final packages (you delete the TXTR files in the package and then put the filename in the... uh... Property Set? I don't have SimPE on this machine so I can't check). You don't have to actually extract anything; if you point the game in the right direction, it can find the textures you need. This is the Repository Technique. I tried to find you a tutorial on clothing, but all I could find was a tutorial for objects. I know you can do this with clothes, though; I've done it before. It makes the files nice and small!

I'm using custom clothing, but that's handy to know. I've heard of the technique but never tried it because it sounded scary. XD I shall have to look for a tutorial if it's as easy as that! I probably won't do it with this batch of stuff as I intend to share it and I don't know if people would want the original ages too, but for my own game, it would be great.
