View Full Version : Game Crashes After Creating Family

Hi, this is my first time posting and I'm hoping I can get some sort of help after I explain my problem. I first bought the Sims 2 Deluxe pack back in 2009 and later on the expansion packs. Everything has worked fine until a month ago now. I'd go create and create my sim/family and everything works fine, until I complete my family and it goes to the "Loading "name" Family" my game stops responding/freezes. And it only does it while making a new family, it loads and plays fine with the pre-load families. At first I figured it was all the custom content I had that was making it go slow, but after waiting nearly half an hour, and opening Task Manager I saw it just stopped responding.

I own a laptop, it's current specs are: http://i1063.photobucket.com/albums/t516/kaifleur/cpuspecs.png and runs the latest version of Direct X

I own all Sims games and expansion packs, except the Christmas one. I've already took out all the custom content, and thought about uninstall/re-installing the game but I'm unsure if that will work.

Does anyone have any advice for me? Besides saving up for a brand new laptop? :/

~thanks

Try the Game Problem FAQ (www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Game_Problem).

Try the Game Problem FAQ (www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Game_Problem).

None of that really helped me with my problem. And if I'm understanding what they mean about burning the patch to the CD I dont want to A) Risk loosing one of my Sims disc and B) have no blank discs to burn the patch too nor can I afford blank discs.

The game problem FAQ will walk you through the steps that you need to follow to narrow down your problem.

The first step is to backup your save game, so that you don't lose anything. You can just copy your save game to your desktop if you don't have the ability to write a CD. The important thing is to have a copy of your save game. It's less important where you decide to store that copy.

Unfortunately, there's not much that we can do for you, other than to point you at the FAQ. You need to determine whether the problem is in your CC, your save game, your installation, etc.

For your system specs, it would help if you could follow this FAQ. The information that you provided is incomplete.

Well like I said in the comment above, the Game FAQ did not help me. For saved games, it doesn't really bother me if I back them up or not, since I can just remake them in a flash. But re-installing the game did not work, so I'm just gonna assume it's my laptop, since I did not find any useful help here.

General - Post System Specs
We need more information before we can help with your issue.
Please post a Quick summary of your System Specs
Instructions on finding them are here: Game Help:System Specs.
Please Do NOT post your complete DxDiag report in your thread.

If you post your system specs as asked, it will help us to determine if this is the case.

For the Game problem guide, just to check that you tested without CC, yes?
