Can't install custom Sim?

Okay, so I've once complained about how my custom-installed Sim shows up weirdly, with pitch black skin and everything, but now it seems that I can't install custom Sims AT ALL. The launcher actually said that the Sim is 'installed', but it never showed up in my game. I don't have this problem with other .sims3pack files like Lots and Worlds, but this problem applies to all my downloaded Sims.

If the sim shows up with black skin that means that you do not have the skin that the sim was packaged with. You need to get the skin. Did you try deleting your CAS Part cache file?

No, my problem is that the Sim I tried to install did not appear in the game at all, despite the Launcher saying it's already installed. Sim showing up with black skin is an entirely different problem.

Where is this Sim downloaded from? Does it have CAS CC attached?
If I understand correctly, CC made with TSRW that would be attached to any shared Sims3Pack CC have some issues starting from one of the recent patches. All the folks with this issue whom I advise to ask @TSR to ask the folks there, never came back with whatever solution they found. So there's no closure.

You could try extracting the .sim and plopping it into SavedSims yourself manually to see if that helps.
