View Full Version : Whatever happened to SAVE AND QUIT?!

I swear the game used to ask, if you pressed Quit, if you wanted to save!

I am so angry! I got Create-a-World to try and make my own small world using Riverview as a base, with really small lots and one of each type (one bar instead of one of each bar, stuff like that). I made 4 lots for it and went to save. Rather than "Save" and then have to wait forever to quit, I opted to do both at the same time by simply pressing Quit.

And the game just closed!

No prompt!

No "Are you sure?"

No "Save before quitting?"

NOTHING!

This is using CAW, or TS3? different programs :) Or CAW Edit In Game?

In TS3, "Save and Quit" is a separate command from "Quit" on the options menu.

Also, if you are using CAW Edit in Game, save first and then quit (as 2 different processes) is better than Save and Quit. This is because, sometimes, a lot will be corrupt or it will just fail to save properly. If you used Save and Quit and the save fails, the game STILL quits so you lose everything rather than getting an opportunity to try and save again.

Question. Do you have Awesomemod installed? One of the setting you can turn on with AM is 'expert mode', which among other things removes the prompt to save before you quit. Drove me nuts because I kept accidentally hitting the Q button. "Ooh, time for a screenshot, gotta reposition-- oh, lol, I hit Q but forgot to hit tab, no worries-- wait, is it quitting out? WHY IS IT QUITTING OUT?!"

It was in Edit In Game. And there was no Save and Quit button.

I do have awesomemod, and I do have expert mode! D:< I never expected it to block THAT kind of prompt! That's not "expert mode", that's "force the game to have stupid programming for the sake of making things inconvenient" mode! :'(

Heh... if you're in CAW, you are not in the game, you are in a modding tool, and nobody ever said it was user-friendly ;)

You know we have a CAW forum, right? It's under the Create menu, and it's a great place to go for help and tips with world creation.

I lost all interest in world creation when everything I did was lost in one swoop. u_u

Thought that might be it. Yeah, uncheck that, then. I can see where you might want it; if you never quit and save at the same time the prompt is unnecessary and could get annoying.

I mean, the description even says:
Game will not constantly question your orders with pointless confirmations.

I didn't think "Choosing an option in the menu" counted as "order". I figured it meant orders for sims. :(

There aren't confirmations for orders to your Sims though. Now that would be annoying. "Are you sure you want to send this Sim to pee?"

Well..it is Awesome Mod, what do you expect? :)

Too much, consistently. The horribly elitist little cliquey nature of that place stifles reason and creativity and advancement in general. I shouldn't be surprised that one of its features is completely stupid and pointless!
