A Question Regarding Custom Content on TS3

I got a new laptop, and I installed TS3 on it. It ran smoothly and perfectly without any lagging for a long time. It didn't even take long to load.

So here's my question, can TS3 run slower if you have too many downloaded custom content on it?

Sheer volume of custom content, especially package files done separately, can cause slow loading and a long time to scroll through thumbnails (till they're generated and cached). The slow loading can be alleviated by combining your package files - there's info on that in the Help FAQs. Installing broken files or accidentally ending up with Sims 2 package files can cause your game to go reaaaaaaalllly slow too.
