This is great, seriously. Thank you for sharing. Now, I am probably going to go around the house (When I'm cooking) saying:

Go Spogando

>.> This is of course the true translations :P

But I love the cheer, totally sounds real...Except when they come over and cheer for hours -.-" Watch TV then go back to cheering...

nice list but,

I miss the phrase for "oh yuck that stinks!" from when a child walks past a baby/toddler with a dirty diaper

I don't know that one well enough to write it down but it should be added

I love these sorts of things!
I'm forever trying to figure out what sims are saying. Sometimes it sounds very close to English (such as a toddler's scream for "Daddyyyyyyyyyyyyy!") but other times we're left only guessing.

I assume that when a cashier at an OFB business says what sounds to me like "crazy nibblets" they must be saying "thanks for shopping here" or something to that effect.

I've got a freakin' headache going on...but had to add --unless it's already been said --- "Floor. Floor Foeben." When scolding a pet.
Also, "Sperk ! Sperk ! " When instructing your cat to talk.
BTW, thanks muchness for the list ! :)

I always thought that Woofum or Woovem meant pet because whenever the sims talk to their pets they call them Woofum/Woovem.

and Ay ee Tippy! is another of my favorites when Sims are teaching their Sim pets to roll over (if I remember correctly)

As for the Polititian saying Mogey mogey mogey I kind of thought of that like a judge saying Hear ye, hear ye, hear ye in a courtroom, kind of like those judge shows on TV.

I had a sim called Nooboo! :D

One I would like the translation to is 'Glabe vada skijay' (which was a jingle at Studio town in Sims 1, and the sims say it in conversation in Sims 3).

Also, have you ever noticed this?

I know others have attempted to translate Simlish into English. Its tough though, sometimes you can't quite hear the words just right. EA has the simlish lyrics of a few songs that are in the game over at the official Sims 2 site. It would be in the cool stuff section. Since those songs are Simlish translations of real songs anyway, I figure that might help. Oh and don't forget, EA did a Simlish version of Deck the Halls. I believe that would also be in the cool stuff section. It started out like this: Dom bi jow jow hay blee carnips. Or at least I think that's what it sounded like.

simlish has come a long way since simcopter
in that game it actually made no sense at all to try and translate

I found this on the sims.wikia
actual Known Simlish Translations

* Su Su - Hello
* Degg Degg- Goodbye
* Chumcha - Pizza
* Sperk - 'Speak' (The command to your pet)
* Nooboo - Baby
* Chitmar - Checkmate
* Vous - You
* Laka - Like a
* Zo Hungwah - So Hungry
* Fretishe - Everything
* Clops - Clothes
* Kik - Kiss
* Mik Up - Make Out
* Dobbinips - Dominoes
* Litzergam - Thank You
* Shooflee - distress call, possibly "Help Me"
* Chika- Change
* Mik- 1
* Mak- 2
* Maka- 3
* kat- Cut
* Vadish - Thank You
* Gerbit - Llama

some of the bold parts(below) are mentioned above in 'sounds like' form
this bold stuff is the real writing of the simlish words
--like "arraganda" should be "anaconda" (see below)

The Sims 2

The Sims 2 comes with better heard and newer phrases like "e wam".
Common phrases are now "daj daj" and "ackabunad."

Common greetings include "sule-sule" and "dag dag".
When there's a problem, they will say "Shoo Flee" and "anaconda" a lot.
When some female Sims walk by another Sim, their greeting will be "Ooh, voodoo!" Sometimes they'll say "Lick a rock!".
They reportedly swear sometimes.
Much to the amusement of many players, pregnant Sims have been known to shout "WooHoo!" while giving birth.
When female elders play at the poker table in Nightlife,
they will often say "Texas Goushem"
which is probably a reference to Texas HoldEm (a type of poker card game).

In the Pets expansion pack,
when a Sim is teaching their pet to "Shake", they will say "shurb" repeatedly,
as well as when they teach to "Speak", they will say "Sperk".

When an object is in their way, females will say " Nib! Frabanage! Haloo! Frinding."
or they may say "Oh! Ambloo. Umm...sesaru?"

and males will usually say that too except they do not say "haloo".
The Marco Polo from Seasons was originally named Timle Tourneau,
and you can clearly hear Sims exclaiming "Timle" and "Tourneau" instead of "Marco" and "Polo".
Tim LeTourneau is, in fact, one of the staff of EA.

When Witches and Warlocks in Apartment Life use the cauldron,
they will say the last names of EA staff members, such as Macarevich,Majekodunmi, and Parmeley.
the last phrases meaning "good,finished,done"
(my wiches and warlock prefer "Parmeley")
and when playing "cops and robbers" most of my sim-kids say "piu,piu"

the following is from TS3
Common phrases are
"teg teg", "swebsi madoo", "madoof napso!", "abondandlain... en som?",
"hubble herbi", "etne condoroy", "shawbo glub", "switz zorg",
"tippaha yooredful", "shabow", "sussel!", "ibzy biz ochoy",
"ayba miyba mo!", "sa dooga", "ib ou!", "narbo puhzed",
"yargbo bay tazzle".
Sims also shout "Shamo! Jatzkey!" or "Wala!"
when they cannot reach a certain area
(accompanied by a "no footsteps" speech bubble). these were not accompanied by any translation

I also found a link(same site) that helps with finding more possible meanings
or like I could also say, if we are talking simlish songs now try these on for size:

http://sims.wikia.com/wiki/Songs_in_Simlish#Simlish_Lyrics

they are 4 actual songs translated into simlish and on the game

but I like to know the english for "the nursery rhime" that is in there with my EP/SP set

P.S. the quotes are all from the same page and not all of the page is about the sims(1,2,3) so not everything makes sense
like "....comes with better....." in the second one refers to diff with the "simcopter simlish" that is why I mention it on the top end of this

I love this thread! I always try to learn simmish! I have noticed that the men say "magwuffer" after laughing at a joke, and the women say "legine" on the phone when they're agreeing with a friend. I had worked out that "Nooboo" was baby aswell. Also they say "Il for tam" when they're hungry.........can't remember any more but I like to think I have learned quite a few sim words whilst playing!

I wonder if Simlish actually has any grammatical patterns...

Nah its just a bunch or random gibberish, with some familiar sounding words in different languages but I doubt any grammar or anything of the sort exists ^_^

mr_db1
1st Apr 2012, 9:56 PM
if you ever get a sim-child talking to his/her imaginary friend (not any one else there), and listen to him/her, you will notice there is a grammar to simlish
(one of my own sims was doing this talking to no-one thing yesterday)

our problem is that we can't actually understand it like other sims do.
but that does not make it random gibberish

SimCopter-simlish was that way, but just because it was build on a short list of words
TS-simlish has grown into a real speakable language

having said that,
most things any sim says are short remarks so, you need to really get lucky to hear any complex use of the language .

Gcgb53191
1st Apr 2012, 11:43 PM
I'm pretty sure its mostly random. Otherwise the creators would have had to spend a lot of time creating a language.

When I see videos of the voice actors it doesnt look like they're reading off a script I could be wrong though.

Honestly, I think a good way to learn simlish is through the songs as well. I mean if you have the English translation, its an easy way. I think. I've learned a few.

I've noticed that when a sim thinks someone is fit, the women fan themselves and go "Ooh.....farubitar", and the men do some weird thing and go "havalavatiba".

I laugh when young adults do the smustle dance because they say some funny things. One of the things they say sounds like "Bo bo smustle. Bo smustle bo." Then another one is "Ooogie ooogie ooogie. Ooo ooo ooo." For some reason when they become adults they don't say those things anymore when they smustle dance. They say different things that aren't as funny to me.

Teenagers also say:

But for some odd reason teenagers, when they get off the bus, they smustle...And stop the other kids from getting off the bus. Yeah, go them -.-"

My friend and I will compliment each other in Simlish.

She will say to:

And I will simply reply:

Yeah, I know teens say it too, but I don't see teens smustle dance as often as young adults do in my game. I haven't said any sim words to any actual people. I will say some words to my cousins dog though. I call him a woofum and when I tell him to stay, I say "stoor". At least that's what it sounds like the sims are saying when they are trying to teach a dog to stay. The dog has no idea what I'm saying anyway. lol

Simlish changes from game to game. In Sims 1, Dag Dag was hello and Soon Soon was goodbye. (At least in the family I played most often.)

Yazoo

Dag Dag is also in the Sims 2. For instance when my Sim is checking the mail or whatever, sometimes when there is a person there. They will say:

"Dag Dag"

Instead of

"Soo Soo"
