Game and launcher won't start

So, I'm able to start the game itself but I'm having problems opening the launcher. There's some .sims3packs or whatever they're called that I want to install and it's a bit hard to do when the launcher isn't starting. I'm not really good with this techy stuff so I'm not sure what I should do. Help please?

have you tried opening the launcher with "run as administrator"? Does the process is shown in the process tabs in task manager? maybe your firewall or antivirus might preventing the launcher to open.


The last option would be re installing the game. (don't forget to back up your save files when you re install.)

yeah m startingg to have similar problems after installinf fast lane stuff. My launcher starts normally but when i select mods in download tab and click install nothing happens , no movement nothing .And also when i try to uninstall some previously installed mods same result nothing happens .And also my game wont start when i click the play button .I also dont get any error mesage or something at all.It just wont respond. Can anyone have a solution for this .

Geez. Now in addition to have tried all of the things in the articles, the game won't start. I tried using the direct application to try and launch it but it gives me the error message "Unable to start game. Service initialization failed (0x0175dcbb)".

Ha! I got it! I think the problem was my Late Night EP. All my EPs kept installing in Japanese and when I renamed the file to English I think that messed it up. But it's fixed now! Everything is working and nothing hurts. Haha.

When you say you renamed it to English, how did you do that, exactly? Registry edits or a full uninstall of all addons, all the way to base game?
Is it the same error message? If not, what is it?
This is to install some content (and not to play the game)? And you've tried to install Sims3Pack on clean user folders after doing the Game Problem FAQ's step#3? Do you double-click on the Sims3Pack file that you want to install, or used the Sims 3 shortcut (or the Sims3LauncherW.exe)?
Does the game itself play with no crashing at all?
Do you have digital or disc version(s) of the game(s)? Is Origin still installed, and if so, updated yet?

What patch version is the base game on?

Well, when I manually patched my game to 1.6.6.002001, my game wouldn't start. Meaning, I started at 1.2.7.00001 and got to 1.4.6.00001 before the launcher stopped loading. I really don't think it has anything to do with my CC, but if it does, I'm not sure what it is. I've followed all of the directions in the trouble-shooting threads and uninstalled and re-installed my game three times but, as I said before, if I update it past 1.4.6.00001 it doesn't load. Has anyone else had this problem?

EDIT: Also, it's not a version 0.0.0.0 problem. It still shows the current version - ex:1.6.6.002001

1.6.6 is not the current version. Sims3Packs need at least 1.5.8 version (before Showtime).

But with Showtime and the Simport feature, the Exchange server now checks for Launcher to be at 1.33, even if you don't have Showtime. Some issues with patching to that version though, explained in Q&A for "Issues with 1.3x Superpatcher" wiki FAQ

EDIT: Oh yeah, I tried downloading the super patcher but it wouldn't work. I'm downloading it again right now but there's still no guarantee that it'll work.

From the Patch_table wiki I linked above, read the first Patching page (linked in the header) and all the other pages linked within, and even some on the Patching header available on that Table page.

If any of our wiki pages are not clear, then provide feedback so we can tweak them some more. :)

- double-clicking starts some window, but then it crash, stalls, what...? again, what's the error message, if any?Ok, so I downloaded the 1.29 from 1.26 patch but the installation starts then when it finishes an error message pops saying Update Error: Invalid file found. Should I be updating from 1.26, because right now my Sims version says 1.0.631 etc.

EDIT: Oops, never mind. So should I do the incremental patch updates then? Like, 1.24 to 1.26 etc?

sounds like maybe the whole game is corrupted somehow since it wont even launch the by pass way..hmmm... im assuming you already tried a re install?

What patch is it on now? If you're not on 1.29, then you need to uninstall as stated in the Issue with Superpatcher wiki page.
Have you read the Q&A thread and the Issue with Superpatcher wiki page? You need to follow the method stated in the wiki and explained further in that thread.

We're still on the same issue of
- launcher not starting and
- game not starting when bypassing Launcher?

Once you've followed the method outlined in that Issue with Superpatcher wiki page, and you're at 1.33 version, if this issue still occur, please post with what the error message say. A screenshot is great! :)
If there's no error message, let us know too.
And then, also tell us what Antivirus program you're using.

I've decided to give up. My birthday is coming up in about two months and I don't need to play the Sims that desperately. Sorry for the trouble. You can close the thread if you want to.
