I have the sims 3 and i just re-installed it due to an earlier problem with CC. when i opened it this time, the town map is just all white or blank with the icons still there, i found out that you can adjust this in the options menu, i tried, but the options won't save at all. i even tried to edit the file in My Documents and see if it works there. I dont want to re-install it again because i have a lot of stuff packs and expansion packs, so it'll take a long time. Thanks!
Below is a pic of the town map

The game isn't going to run on Windows 8 -- check out this (http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=470758#post3800491) thread for more info, but this is a beta OS.
Additionally, your specs aren't up to running the sims. You have an integrated graphics card (http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Onboard_Graphics). Three gigs of RAM is also not enough for pets and up.

Thanks, but by saying it wont run on Windows 8 are you saying that it wont run properly or wont run at all because i ran it really well before, but the game wont load after i put in awesome mod, but i didn't know that at the time so i reinstalled. afterwards it worked, but the map just got messed up.

I'm not saying it can't work, but windows 8 is a beta operating system. It's not fully developed, and you should expect bugs using any beta software. If you check out the win8 forums, you'll notice that graphic problems plague it (or at least did a few weeks ago, I haven't booted into win8 in a while).
You shouldn't expect the game to run well in windows 8. If it does, that's great but if not there isn't anything we can do.
Additionally, your specs are not up to handling running the game. Check out Your Computer is Like a Car (http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Your_Computer_is_Like_a_Car).
From that article:
Another way to explain this, Running a game on a computer that can't handle it is like hanging a heavy load from a thin rope - it'll probably be ok at first, but after a while the rope will start to fray, and eventually snap. The same is true for computers - your game probably ran ok for a while, though it probably looked terrible; now your computer is getting too damaged to keep up, so things are going wrong.

Just right click TS3( You don't have to do it for every single EP ), Select Properties, Go to Compatibility settings (They are automatically turned off): Check the box and select Windows 7. Restart TS3 ...TADA!

Actually it's TS3W now, also compability mode is flawed, sometimes it works, sometimes not.

Well then it's your specs, because I'm running The Sims 3(All EPs & SPs), Medieval, and Windows 8 CP successfully daily without black spots or option saving issues thanks to compatibility mode.

You might speak from the experience of that it works for you in Windows 8 and the games you have, i speak from the experience of having run almost all versions of Windows and having to get ride of several things, because they stopped working.
Compability mode works for some things but not for others, hence my comment that it's flawed and thus not a general solution for running something that's not compateble with that OS.
