I wanted to sort out my CC and created subfolders under /downloads and /mods/packages. Now nothing won't show up. I've heard people do it a while ago and I decided to try it now, but is it still actually "doable" now?

For archiving purposes, after the CC has been installed, in case you need to reinstall stuff? Then, it is best to do this outside of the Sims 3 folder in a separate drive preferably, if you have multiple drives.

Or to organize installed CC? Then use CC Magic (see Downloads section, program is by granthes).
Items under subfolders in Downloads won't be read by Launcher when you want to install. Launcher only reads that one level.
Subfolders under Packages work only if you have a Resource.cfg to match; if you use our FrameworkSetup.zip you have the correct Resource.cfg that supports subfoldering.

CC Magic has its own Do's and Don'ts, so you have to read about that yourself. :)
If you don't want to use CC Magic, the manual way is outlined in Game Help:TS3 Organizing Custom Content.

Thanks for your reply and the link!

Just a question; I've not yet installed any of my CC and I already have them in sub-folders. You said that the launcher won't recognize them, so do I install the CC first then put them in sub-folders and same with packages?

Same question: you want to organize installed content or the uninstalled files for Archival purposes (for future Installs if ever you need to do a Full uninstall, or when the .dbc/.ebc files get corrupted and thus need to be reinstalled)?

If it is Sim3Packs content, after you've installed them, then do not store them in Downloads as the next time you want to install new Sim3Packs, Launcher would need to read the whole folder all over again and stalls, which makes most folks think that Launcher hangs and became unresponsive. Keep only the 'to-be-installed' Sims3Packs in the Downloads folder. So, the subfoldering only helps the 'uninstalled' Sim3Packs. The installed Sims3Packs' contents are in files Launcher reads in the DCCache folder.

We have a guide on the user folders and files in Game Help:TS3 User Folders Explained.

CC Magic can organize Sims3Packs (no Store items, no Worlds and no Patterns) as well as .package, in case you aren't aware.
