Finally I have been able to get something good out of TSRW and Photoshop. The first pattern is a Travertine I needed for my Mansion. I think it look good. I have not desaturated this pattern and it's not inversed. Why should I? I have very low settings on my pc, because of this massive lot. Have to find somewhere else to test, and this is only a pattern not a house, I know lolz, but I just love taking pictures.

Campared to EA terracotta pattern. That's the one I have cloned for this job too.

Layers:
Background middle tone, highlight and shadow. Alpha is a complementary blue just for the fun. I didn't know how to get colors into these channels, then I did some adjustments. This is before the adjustments. Red, white and black for the background.

No comments on this one. I guess that means it's all good?

Travertine is a limestone that forms around hot springs and has concentric or fibrous patterns in the stone. Yours looks more like clay to me. If you look at natural travertine, it is very porous with a rough surface. When you polish that surface, the rock has little bulbous looking partial circles and some concentric patterns from the cutting into that surface. It also should go all the way to the edge of the tile, not just in the middle as your pictures show. Yours look very much like a worn clay tile. They are very nice, but do not look like travertine to me.

BTW, I am a geologist so probably pickier than some. Again yours are pretty but real travertine looking tiles would be fabulous. Sorry for the long threads!

hm ... I just took the name from the stone I used. I have not made this all the way from scratch. It's a photo from a stone surface and the one who took the photo was perhaps not as picky as you :)

I think I'm gonna call it Terracotta. Better safe than sorry. That's what I intended it for, so should be good. Thanks.

Edit: not terracotta but ... never mind. I will be some time until it's finsihed. Have other patterns I need to work on as well.

It looks much crisper than EA's tile, that's for sure. I like it. I agree that it might look more like a clay tile than stone. However, that might be partially the colors you used. See what happens if you try to match the natural colors of travertine from photos. Good work!

It is a very nice clay tile. :) Very sharp and the colors are good. I would use it.
