I hope this is where this belongs. I have tried on the Sims 3 site and cannot get anyone to talk to me about this. I see a lot of threads over there about this but most of them don't have anything to do with my specific problem. I only have the base game. I bought the Sims 3 base game back when it first came out. My computer could run it but my son told me that I had on board graphics instead of a graphics card and that if I used the game a lot or put on a lot of E.P.'s or S.P.'s I could damage my computer. I was more into Sims 2 so I just did not play 3 often or buy any more packs. I had some content from the Sims 3 store but that was it. About 9 months ago we took a bad electrical strike that damaged that computer and I died over the course of a few months. (Yes I had UPS but the strike was that bad!) My husband had the computer that I am using now and he let me have it. It does completely meet specs. I Installed Sims 2 and had been playing it but I got a virus and had to wipe the computer and reinstall so since Sims 3 has finished I decided to install it also and start picking up all the packs that go with it as the put out the multi-packs. There was a problem with my DVD drive and it could not read the DVD at first. In the mean time I was contacted by Origin and they offered me a half priced game to beta their new store. I took it and saw that I could download my Sims 3 that I had registered from their site. I did and when I tried to run the program the game launcher would not work. I decided to replace the DVD drive and dumped the game and reloaded it from the DVD. Unfortunately it still will not launch. My son showed me how to start the game from the .exe but that means I cannot download any content including content I have already purchased. Can anyone explain what is going on?
