Yes. Patch 1.26 and anything higher includes the modified RIG format, and may cause problems with your older CC objects. You have to patch in order to install Pets or any later EPs; so the only way to avoid updating your CC objects is to never patch or install new EPs again. It's much easier to just update your CC. ;)

I wouldn't say it is -much- easier... I am still at 1.24 because they have lost me completely with the direction the new EPs are going. I'm not interested in achievements, I'm not interested in sim-swapping (especially if I can't still play my sim while someone else has them.) I'm definitely not interested in "EAcebook" (my term for it), and I'm not interested in whatever else they come up with to make the Sims a junior MMO. They have no idea why I like the game, and they are removing everything about it that I like. They -might- win me back with the magic EP, but unless that happens I'm perfectly happy not having collections, unicorns, and kitties in exchange for not having to update my CC and not having all the new problems they have been adding.

I recognize that this means I won't be able to install newer CC either, so it is also possible that someone will make some CC that is so awesome I am convinced to patch. Until then I'm happy with my game exactly the way it is. (And I'm looking for my missing Sims 2 discs.)

So it's only easier if you think there is a possibility that you might want to continue adding to the game.
