View Full Version : Making CC Appear Only In Collections?

Basically, what the subject line says: I'm looking for some way to make (some of) my custom content appear only in collections and not in the main catalogue.

I only want to do this for certain bits of CC. Mostly it's things like Dragon Slave's gorgeous horse - which is beautiful, but it takes up a ton of catalogue space in amongst the dressers. There are also various other animal statues along the same theme as the horse, and also a bunch of medieval themed objects that don't really fit with my main catalogue and just clutter the place up when I'm not making specifically themed lots.

I know Paladin's Palace (http://www.simwardrobe.com/) has a 'Categoriser' for objects that sounds like it might do what I want it to do, but unfortunately, no matter what I do, I can't make the help file work and I don't really want to just play around and see what happens. I have no desire to break my game beyond all comprehension because I don't know what I'm doing! I'm sure you all understand that. ;)

Can anyone point me in the right direction? (Or explain how the Sims 2 Categoriser works, or at least, how to do what I want to do with it?)

Thanks a lot in advance. :)

I know how to do this! But not with the Categoriser, sorry. Anyway, my way:

Put your stuff into collections, double check it's there because once you remove it from the catalogue you won't be able to access any of it. Then close the game. Load up SimPE and open the mesh file for a file you want to hide. Then click on Object Data (OBJD) and remove the ticks from Function sort. DON'T remove them from Room sort or they'll vanish completely. Commit and save. Your item will be hidden in the Buy catalogue but available in collections. :D

To make it easier, sort your downloads with Delphy's Download Organiser first and separate your meshes. Also, resize your SimPE window so it only takes up half the screen, and have your folder of meshes in the other half of the screen. Then you can drag the files into SimPE to open them. I find it much faster. Also, you might find it handy to write a list of what collections you want and make the icons first. All my icons are plain white with black text and it's SO MUCH EASIER to find my collection of sofas when the icon simply says 'sofas'.

Thank you SO MUCH for this! Exactly what I was looking for: step-by-step instructions for how to do what I wanted to do. :D :D :D

Sushigal, you have made my day!

I must admit, I haven't used SimPE that much, but it sounds fairly straightforward. Still, I might need to head back over to ask you something if I hit a stumbling-block - I hope that's OK?

Thanks again!

No problem, all my new CC goes into collections and then hidden, so I like to think I've gotten pretty good at it. XD
