Hi,
Forgive me, but I am not good at explaining things, so I'll try my best to be as clear as possible...
I have recently reinstalled the Sims 2 (I have done this many times actually) and when I put all my CC in my downloads folder, it works fine when I enter the game (no crashing or anything flashing blue) but when I am browsing in either CAS or build or buy mode for my custom content, it takes long to load, and I have to click the "next" arrow button and have to wait for it to load again. This is ALL custom content, and I just find it very frustrating that I have to wait for all the hair, clothes, furniture etc. to load everytime I install the game as it was brand new and just bought it. It takes about 15 seconds for each page to load, but by the time all my CC is done loading, maybe a half hour or more has gone by, but I have a LOT of CC. It may not be a big deal to some people, but I just find it very annoying.
What i find interesting though, is when I DO backup my game, the whole Sims 2 folder in the "My Documents" directory (I back it up using WINRAR), extract it and overwrite everything, I go into the game and the CC browsing is running smoothly and not slow to load at all (this is of course after I have gone through all the pages of CC I have, just so everything loads and it doesn't take as long). However, if I just backup my Downloads folder, extract that and go into the game, my CC is loading slow again (I backup my Downloads folder sometimes when I add new content).
Does anybody know why this happens? Is there a file, like a .package file, that somehow prevents the slow loading and can "remember" the CC you have in your game? Or is it just the fact that my computer is running slowly from having too much custom content? If there is a file, what is it? And if there isn't, what do you suggest?
Again I'm sorry I'm not good at explaining things, but I hope people get the idea of what I'm trying to say. If you want me to elaborate more, I will do my best!
Thank you in advance!
