View Full Version : The Sims 3 Has Stopped Working

I currently have The Sims 3, Pets, Generations, and World Adventures. At random times throughout the game I get the message "the Sims 3 has stopped working" and it shuts down.

I used to have a Sony Vaio and this was a problem. EA told me it was because my processor wasn't the required size.

I recently purchased an Asus N53S with a dual core processor (more than required for the Sims) and I am having the same issue. It's so frustrating!

Also, when I am in full screen mode and minimize for whatever reason, when I reopen the Sims in full screen, the picture is too dark to see. It's almost like it is nighttime on the Sims, but a little darker and the lower menu with opportunities and work information, etc is also a few shades darker.

I have tried clearing my cache, reinstalling the sims (a 4 1/2 hour process), I played with the DEP settings, I've chatted on the phone with EA and went through the steps they suggested (which were basically what I wrote above). They can't figure out what is wrong either.

The only downloaded content I have are three hair styles from the store and two worlds (Appalooza Plains and Riverbend).

Does anyone have any idea how to fix this problem so I can play the game without it crashing on me?

*I apologize if this issue was covered already. I looked through the forums and the FAQs and didn't see it anywhere.

Please go through the Crashing Checklist (http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Sims_3_Crashing_Checklist) and then post all the information asked for at the end of it.
