View Full Version : Relationships?!
Sims Error
15th Apr 2012, 11:30 AM
I have a problem and I think it's a glitch.
When my Sim (he is singer) preforms on a stage, the relationship between him and audience fall to the red (instead of increase). He is level 8 now, but this problem is still here.
Are there any solutions to this problem?

Known glitch. No known solutions yet. Annoys me too. Make sure you don't have their SO go to see a concert. Even their relationship takes a hit.

I was having this same issue with my singer, and fortunately I have figured out that you can change all of your signers relationships at once with NRaas Master Controller with the cheats extension.
On your selected Sim go to NRaas > Master Controller > Intermediate > Long-term Relationship by value > Don't select anything and press the check button > Select all of the Sims that you want to raise your relationships with > click the check button and then set their relationship to a positive value (It will be set for all selected Sims).
It is a bit tedious, but it seems to be the most effective fix right now.

This may be from Carl's Sims guide, but I think that by performing for tips, you should be able to restore some of those relationship hits. You should be doing this anyway, as you already have a large, captive crowd.
Hope that helps.

This is the exact subject I've been searching answers for for a long, long, long time! I've spent all night looking through the GamePlayData file trying to find a connection between the relationship decay and stage performance. I can't stand it any longer! What happens is my sim gets tons of friends (maybe also because he's a celebrity?) and then performs. Suddenly I get a heck of a lag, then I see 10-20 friendship losses pop up, and of course I'm accused of doing something like peeing in public and have to cheat out that buff or go sue them for slander, or talk to folks to get them to believe me... It's so irritating to me that I'm having trouble wanting to perform. I'd like a "no relationship affect" fix for when performing on stage.
Mine is during their job. Magician/Singer, no matter which. They go to work and when the show is over, it's chaos. The lag isn't expected since I"ve upgraded my pc and have no other issues aside from tiny jumps here and there (spawns or what not). I do have all settings maxed, so I expect a tiny jump here and there. I run less than half of my resources playing. So, I know the lag is from the sudden mass amounts of friends being lost. This is actually the first post I've seen on this topic. Maybe I'm just not using the right search terms?
I'm desparate.
dim4sim, many of them run off after the show, especially when in a venue that's indoors. Maybe a modder knows the file to mod. I'll surely try to do it if I can just find out which files I need to mod.
Until then, I will give TJman94's idea a shot. I have the controller, just not in game. Was testing out the new pc's ability to cope with bugs & settings. Typically I would just manually ctrl-slide the relationships one by one but I don't need tons of friends. Just wish it was more natural.
NOTE: My performers are level 10... it doesn't get any better. I can soooo sympathize with the OP (Sims Error) on this!!
Sorry if I was a bit aggressive with my wording.. I told you I was desparate, lol I'm seriously aggitated at the issue. I hope I wasn't rude about it.

It isn't in the GameplayData file, others have looked for it too. It needs a scripting fix of some kind.

If it's still an issue by the time that I finish the mod that I am working on, I'll take a stab at it.

@ Shimrod101, Grrrr! It's just got to be complicated! lol All those hours I spent looking, reading one by one. Well, at least I've figured out where some other tuning files were. Thanks for relieving me of future searches in that file. ;) Though I may try to peek in other files. Depends on how long my day has been & how tired I am.
dim4sim, I think I love you! lol My desperation with this issue is strong. I'd say the strongest with any of the bugs except losing opportunity options after a simport return. They are sort of tied with me. Thank you for trying, if you can get to it. I think that'd be fantastic if someone would be able to adjust that since I fear EA will drag their feet a bit on this right now, though I could be wrong.
Thank you both! ^.^

Hey, for now, maybe you can try to stick to known good responses (ones that show plus signs over the audiences heads). With the magician, I can "amaze the crowd" (or similar, forget it's exact name), use the two boxes... avoiding the "talk to crowd, other smaller tricks, etc" For once I only lost one relationship and that's because the darn sim decided to scare mine after the performance. lol
I can't say if this will work everytime. I just know it worked for me last night. I've not been able to play much so I can't guarantee it's a sure fire method.. Just an idea ;)

Actually, I've found in performances where the "audience" displays only all blue + signs (reminds me of a pregnancy test) you STILL lose relationship points.

I was watching this now earlier today, watching the audience reacting to the performer. A couple of the watching sims played the negative reaction anims, and got the blue + thingies, meaning a relationship gain, I think. Later during the same performance, a couple of watching sims did the positive reaction anims, and got red - thingies, a relationship decrease. As if the relationship gain/decrease part is reversed.
If this is the case, and it carries over to the time immediately after a performance, then the relationship hits when sims talk to one another are supposed to be relationship gains, which would make sense.

Oh ya, Shimrod, that's exactly the thing. If you give a good one, your friends and family hate you for it.
LOL ah, real life, right on our monitors.

I wonder why the performance my sim did then didn't cause any huge loss of friends this last time. I saw one, and that was the sim that scared him after the show (makes sense since it was a "mean" action at least. But why mean? Connected?) During my sims performance, that one, all responses were blue pluses (also reminds me of a preg. test lol), and they were jumping around and clapping, doing happy dances. One sim said it was the best show in the world! hahaha BUT, maybe because there were only about 6 sims that showed up ultimately? I was hoping there was a method to the madness.
The show before that, I started with "joke with audience" to start the show (my sim is charasmatic and has a good sense of humor) but that resulted in - signs, the rest of the show was just the boxes. (He's a magician). He did lose 4 relationships with that one. It wasn't the typical 10-15 or more at least. This method they have going (EA) is all sooooo backwards! I think it should be buffs instead of relationships, or similar... Anything but dramatic changes in relationships. IMHO ;) Especially if you have the "long term relationship, friendships never sour" LT award... I just don't get it.
Yeah, I don't let family go to the performances anymore! I now know better... haha
On a side note: I have no major mods in right now aside from "only important memories", fixing to get overwatch though, to fix the consignment shop issue (hopefully) and keep the game clean. The spell book seems to be working for my sim now, not sure if they fixed that but I'm getting other issues since it's been fixed.. Strange! Maybe it's still borked but not the same way..?

Does anyone know of a fix for this disaster yet? :)

As your sim "meets" everyone who attends the performance, the easiest thing to do is enter "testingCheatsEnabled true" and manually drag up all the relationships. That is, if you don't want to mod your game for the same result.

That's what I've been doing however I've only been responding to the loss of friendship messages. Are my best/good friends also losing relationship but not enough to lose friendship (yet)?

Today I downloaded a patch and the list of fixes mentions that the performers will no longer lose relationship points "when not responding to requests". Could this annoying glitch be related with the public autonomously requesting songs and (since we don'r read minds) failing to respond? After I install the patch I'll see if there is any change.

My game is patched and my singer has the relationship drop with everyone in the audience, even when the audience all gets blue plusses during the performance. It's really annoying, I thought the patch was supposed to fix that.

Hi everyone.. I had some serious issues over the past year so I've been afk a lot.. I just finally got the new EPs, seasons and supernatural.. I'm hoping to goodness this issue is fixed.. but I'm afraid it's not.. Especially after seeing the very last post above.. Anyone want to add some updates? I'm all ears.. ^.^
Edit: Man (sorry, forgot what you had with your username), I sure hope not.. That'd be a bad miss by EA, and an obvious one.. Hopefully EA has fixed it but if you were to ask me if I think they have, I'd have to say probably not.. I don't have the faith in them like I had in Maxis.. EA seems to eager and greedy, sort of like Apple. hahaha My opinion of them and if they care about us isn't a positive opinion any longer, though it once was.. Their updates and customer support seem to be getting worse while we find more and more titles out there to buy... Aside from that, I'm glad the original sims vision was carried through, even if it was bought by EA.. At least they keep it going. :) Will Wright had my vote from day one!

I'm late to this party but I can safely say that this has not yet been fixed >: ( I just RECENTLY (Like seriously a few days ago) got Showtime from Origin as a direct download and installed it, I've been playing as a singer and have also noticed that while my performances get all + by the end of the show most of the crowd I talk to is in the red and it says that X sim notices that MY sim looks a little insulted >.< Has there been a mod for this yet? cuz I've given up on all hope of EA fixing THEIR mess >: ( so many EPs later and it STILL persists just like the vampire skin not showing up properly in game =.=

The blue pluses you see from the audience is most likely not related to LTR gains/loss, but the grading of your performance. Blue pluses would mean a higher score and a better rating at the end of the performance.
LTR loss with the audience is when your performer does not accede to the requests of the audience - thought bubbles would appear with the song/magic trick/acrobatic trick that they wish to see. It is a lot harder for the singers because I have no idea what icon refers to which song, but you could have your sim make those requests during a npc singer's performance to find that out. Magician and acrobatic tricks are a bit easier to discern based on the icon.
This LTR loss is supposedly fixed in one of the earlier EA patches, but it is not and continues to be a pain for the performance professions, unfortunately.

But then my question becomes why would it say that one of the audience sims notices that my sim looks a little insulted?
If they got a good grade and had a great performance they shouldn't look insulted o.o
Also I notice the thought bubbles of requests when I'm an audience member at a Sim Fest, but when I do a gig can't see any request thought bubbles :(
(My sim is a singer) So if the loss is from not accepting requests then I'm at a loss cuz I don't see them when doing a gig T_T

Huh, I always thought my Sim lost friends because people she hadn't socialized with for a while showed up at her performance and were reminded that she never calls them.
