I've been trying to convert some hairs from 3 to 2. I can get the mesh to show up but the textures don't work properly. The alpha doesn't seem to work.
Is there a tutorial out there for converting hair from 3 to 2?

I think you should post this in Sims 2 section, since the process of preparing meshes and packaging isn't the same as for Sims 3. The only help I can offer is how to extract meshes and textures from Sims 3 files, but since you have done that already, there isn't much else to ask from Sims 3 modders.

I'll do that - Thanks
Just thought some of the sims 3 meshers would have tried it :)

You'll need to be a bit more specific about your problem. You say the alpha doesn't seem to work. Do you mean that it looks like it's in the wrong place (which makes the mesh look broken because there are areas without texture)? Or do you mean you're not getting transparency with the alpha?

Not getting transparency with the alpha. Texture shows on the hair but the mesh shows also in areas it's not supposed to.

Did you convert the texture to png and saved as DXT3?
Also check if the alpha layer is still the same as the original.
Did you clone a hair that supports transparancy?

Hmmm... I think getting this to work will depend on the texture. I'm not familiar with Sims 3 textures. Do they have transparency? If so, do like Bloom said and make sure your texture is a transparent PNG. Then make sure the settings in SimPE are set correctly for the TMXT (TXMT? I can never remember  ). You need to set the alpha blending mode to "blend" (I think... I can't check as I don't have SimPE on this computer). If you do that and your texture has transparency, then it should display properly.

Trying it now thanks Bloom, fakepeeps for your help :)
Textures show up fine now - I think the problem is the mesh isn't alpha
Think I've got it solved now - Thanks again :D
