View Full Version : Launcher appearing as version "null"

I've just reinstalled and completely patched my game. I have all expansions except Showtime, and only Town Life SP. I tried to download Riverview from TS3 website (using Chrome) and the Launcher appears as version "null." A pop up tells me to update, I press ok, and it tells me it's up to date. Yet Riverview won't load, and no game icons appear on the lower left hand corner of the Launcher. When I launch the game through Applications, the full version of the Launcher is there, completely patched and up to date. I guess my question is, how can I get TS3 website to recognize the Launcher is fully patched?

I'm running Lion, if that makes any difference.

Completely patched - meaning on 1.33?
And this patching is done via Launcher? Not manually updated via a .tgz file?

Check the version for me, yes both ways. Let's see if they are identical.

You should see a version.tag file in the Sims 3 folder, open this file in TextEdit. Copy+paste this version string into your next post.
Follow http://simswiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:TS3_Patching_Find_Gameversion#info.plist FAQ for the Base game, and also copy+paste this string into your next post.

Before we get to CC, can the game load and play? No issues there?

Which version of Lion? 10.7.x?

Thanks for the reply!

I patched via the launcher, immediately after loading each expansion/SP.

version.tag reads: [Version]
LatestBase = 1.33.2.015001
Base Game reads: <key>ClientBuild</key>
<string>1.33.2.015001</string>

Game runs fine otherwise, both with and without CC. (.packages and Sims3packs.)

Lion 10.7.3

Don't associate the Sims3Pack with Launcher in the browser, ie don't have the browser auto-launch Launcher when you click on the link. Download the .Sim3Pack file as a separate step to installation. And then you kick off the installation yourself, once the download is complete.

You may also want to try the http://igs.thesims3.com site instead of the full http://store.thesims3.com site.

Alternatively, have Launcher already opened before you click on the download link.

Let me know if any of the above suggestions work, and I'll remember to update the wiki.

I tried what you suggested, and couldn't download the file as a separate step. (User error, I'm sure.)

I tried downloading from both sites on both Chrome and Safari. Neither launched the correct version of the launcher. All four tries resulted in the same "null" version. I even restarted my computer in hopes it would help.

However (!) I opened my game and turned on in-game shopping, downloaded Riverview from there, and it worked. It minimized my game, launched the Launcher, updated a store patch (apparently checking for updates doesn't always work?) and downloaded Riverview. I tested another store purchase out of the game, and the launcher appeared as "null" again.

I guess I'm resigned to "shopping" in-game, as that seems to work for me.

Thank you for the help. I really appreciate the responses.
