View Full Version : Borked downloads folder??

Okay - I consider myself an advanced custom content user. However, for some reason, I can only see certain content I downloaded after a certain date. This happened after I reinstalled my game and tried to reinstall my downloads folder. Nothing was showing up so I went through each subfolder to see where the problem was. There was no problem. The game loaded with each subfolder in the game by itself ( I have my downloads separated into Build, Buy, CAS, and Hacks specifically.)

Then I noticed that I was able to see the two most recent lipsticks I downloaded and I'm wondering if perhaps I created the problem during the copy and paste/rename process I used to try to find the problem.

I know it sounds weird but does anyone understand what I mean???

That is a weird problem. (I assume that you've checked to be sure you didn't end up with two Downloads folders during all of that, and everything is still a .package.)

I don't suppose it could hurt to try moving everything out and deleting the Downloads folder, then running Body Shop or Home Crafter and letting it generate a new Downloads folder. Then put everything back.

Oh: You do still have EPs installed, don't you? If you just reinstalled the base game it didn't like subfolders yet.

I do have all EP's installed but I just noticed that all the .pkg files have what looks like a pad lock on them.

Okay - I figured it out. Somehow during the process of re-installing the sharing got re-written. So I had to go to properties of each folder (Buy, Build, CAS, Hacks) and click share with the user name the game was loaded on. Totally weird but apparently this is something unique to Windows 7. Thanks!

I'm glad you got it solved.

Actually the problem wasn't solved - it seems I jumped the gun a bit. Right now, I have the CAS and Build subfolders in downloads. The CAS items load fine, however, the only build items that will load are walls/floors and neighborhood deco. What can be causing this? I don't know where to look now. Could it be something about the computer user permissions? Do I need to assign them as an administrator?? I'm totally stumped.

That sounds to me like the kind of stuff the game loads even if you had forgotten to re-enable CC...

Did you disable that "WARNING! YOU HAVE CC!!!!! Do you want to actually use it?" screen? If you are used to not seeing it, it's harder to tell that you forgot to enable CC again, and EA disables CC every chance it gets.
