View Full Version : What killed my sim?

(Sorry if this is the wrong section; as far as I can tell, the help section is for game issues, not game questions.)

So my teen sims were off on a field trip to the science facility, which was for some reason being facilitated by the girl sim's older brother, who according to the relationship panel was an acrobat. After they left, however, I got the memory of them witnessing a death, and so I looked over and found the sim's older brother dead.

Now, my question is twofold: first, the harder one to answer, is how he died. He was right outside Starlight Shore's hospital/science facility, so I'm not sure what could have happened. Second is what killed him; his ghost is a brownish color, something I've never seen or heard of before.

Images are attached; thanks!

Acrobat....they can catch on fire when they perform. Perhaps he put on a street performance in front of the science/medical center and caught on fire? There's nothing inside the science facility/hospital that I know of that can kill you (then again, I've never REALLY been inside, anyway). The brownish color I can't help with. Sounds like less than an enjoyable field trip.

edit I just noticed. The Reaper was wearing a graduation robe??

I'd think the fire would cause a red ghost though, right?

I believe that's a glitch that comes from Twallans' Story Progression mod. It's humorous, to say the least.

I thought red was for fire as well. But then again, I never knew the Reaper just graduated from high school today.

Looks kinda like a mummys curse ghost judging by the pictures on sims wikia.

Do you have World Adventures, and did the dead Sim get cursed by a Mummy? If a Sim is cursed by a Mummy and not cured within two weeks they die, and the ghost is the color of the ghost in your picture.

If you don't have World Adventures, its odd that the ghost would be a Mummies Curse ghost.

World Adventures has never touched my game.

Anyone have a comparison photo for the death by magic ghost from Showtime? I've heard it described as "smoky-colored" which seems to resemble this one.

Yeah, you can die by magic in showtime, and the ghost is a smoky color

I found a thread about what death by magic looks like here. (http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/508593.page) They aren't the same.

Yes, I believe Reaper attending graduation was resolved in the latest version.

Pretty sure you can see the Mummy image on the urnstone in that photo you took, so I would go with "Mummy Curse" death as well.

:)

I don't think I have that yet, since I haven't even updated my game. XD

Why, you're right! That doesn't explain why or how he died, but at least one mystery is solved.

I guess they must experiment on mummies at the science facility. I always wondered what it was they did. Too bad one got loose. I wonder if that happened at the same time a message, which I've never seen before, "What was that?" popped up on my game. I thought it was a tad creepy. Even creepier if it was because of a loose mummy attack in your game. I KNEW this Simport/live chat stuff was not good for you, even if you don't log in.

When I was killing off sims to empty up my town with the Master Controller, there was a Human Statue death option.
Since he's an acrobat could he be a human statue ghost?

That's very strange, you say you have no WA expansion pack, right? but if you want to die by mummy's curse you require this ep

Yes, that is correct. I suspect that EA added the coding for the ghosts from different EPs to the game so that people could download lots and households with those types of ghosts, thus allowing him to die from it. What actually caused him to die... well, that'll just be a mystery.

Well, the simplest answer to a mystery is usually the correct one. He was killed by a mummy curse. The question then becomes, how did a mummy end up in your game?

Have you had any traveling performers Simporting around?

You're probably right that the different death "styles" were all in one batch of code, probably introduced through a patch. So, you may need WA to get the mummy in the game, the death colors were simply lumped together.

There's just one problem: the Mummy's Curse takes what, fourteen days to kill your sim? Well, he used to live in my household, and left less than seven days before his death.

It does take 14 days for the Sim to die from the curse to give the player time to cure the Sim. Since you say you don't have World Adventures, its very odd that your Sim died from the Mummy's curse since the Mummies are only found in Egyptian Pyramids.

Based on what's been said, there are only two possibilities left :

1) A random game glitch
2) One of the mods you have, maybe Story Progression or one of its modules, decided that sim had to die and gave him a random death, in this case a Mummy's curse

The second one is just an assumption and I have no idea if it's technically possible but it's either these 2 possibilities or call the Ghostbusters, I'm sure Egon will definitely be able to tell you what happened exactly XD

Yeah, those two are my current theories.

It's gonna be tough, now that the body is cremated in an urn.

Here's a thought. Any chance of resurrecting him at the science facility to help figure out what happened?

Nobody knew him well enough, unfortunately, nor am I sure how I'd figure it out by having him "alive."
