I'm not sure If I'm posting in the right place or not. If I'm not please feel free to move the thread.
First off I want to say I'm not a noob about the Sims2. I'm usually pretty good about searching threads and the net for solutions to problems.
I recently installed my sims2 games on a new computer. The only differences in the install from my last computers is I installed Sims2 Deluxe instead of the Sims 2 ( lost original disc.) and I Installed BV from a back up disc I made (old disc was really scratched and wouldn't load). I have all expansion packs up to freetime and the stuff packs I have are FFS, Glamor, Teenstyle and Celebration.
System specs:
Windows 7
AMD Athlon(tm) IIX2 245 Processor 2.90 GHz
4.00 GB (3.75 GB usable) RAM
64-bit OS
ATI Radeon HD 4000 graphics card
My issues started with a vacation my sims took. I went to the hotel and the Chef kept throwing errors. I tried several things but finally had to "force error and delete" and then leave the lot. I took out my downloads folder and it did the same thing. So I decided to go on a search to find out the reason for it. Found nothing. In my search I ran across Maty's thread for installing clean and empty neighborhood templates and I've decided to do this because I'm thinking my backup of BV might have some corrupt files. I started following the tutorial and discovered that TheSims2Deluxe/Base/TSData/Res/NeighborhodTemplate didn't have any neighborhoods in it. It had one .png file which couldn't be opened by windows image viewer and that's all. In the EP2 folder under the Deluxe directory there is the DOO1 folder only.
My questions are:
1. Is there some difference between Deluxe and Sims 2 that would cause those neighborhoods not to be there? I found nothing about it in my searches.
2. Could this be the cause of the Chef errors?
3. Can I just put the Clean and Empty Templates into that folder? I have maxis backups from Maty's links for those hoods already, but I figured it would be easier to do an empty neighborhood and continuing the tutorial from Maty.
I did try to ask this at Maty but it's not letting me register for some reason. *more errors* :(
