Am I a vampire? No. But I've certainly had vampire sims. None currently.

When Sims 2 first came out, I was still getting to know the original Sims, so by the time I got the Sims 2 base game, I was also able to get Uni, NL, and OFB. So I've never played Sims 2 without NL.

I have Sims 2 Deluxe, I couldn't imagine Sims 2 without Nightlife, that's my favorite expansion, well one of my many favorites anyway ;)
And no I'm not a vampire, but I've made vampire families before, I just have all normal Sims currently, and a lot of ugly Sims too.

I've just realised I've never had a vampire! I've been trying, but just haven't managed it yet.

I, too, own The Sims 2 Deluxe and can't imagine life without Nightlife. Though, when I'd first start playing The Sims 2, I didn't own that expansion pack, so playing the game was a little more difficult, especially when it came to making friends for my Sims to get promotions at their jobs. Yes, I've had vampires before. I eventually grew bored of their eternal lives, and had killed them off. Cruel, I know.

Vampires are not supposed to be out during the day. Their needs don't drop at all during the night. (Unless they do something that gives a hit to anyone's needs...) Just keep putting them back in their coffin during the day. (Or get 3 skill levels of logic and let them meditate all day.)

I have nightlife, but I've never had a vampire sim. I should try it sometime.

I have Double Deluxe, so Nightlife has always been part of my game. I've never had a playable vampire, just seen the Grand Vampires walking (or flying as the case may be) around the downtown lots.

I'm annoyed by the modern tendency to romanticize vampires (who must all have really bad breath), so I ignore mine. The Contessa, whose name I don't remember, goes around saying Bleah at people and has a snowsuit for outerwear which looks really peculiar when she's walking with her arm up. The Count, Ralph, keeps randomly making enemies with Popularity sims, getting into fights with them in the backgrounds at community lots, and then showing up at their doors during their rotation and running off screaming that the sun burns them before they can do anything. I think Count Ralph didn't cope with his dead-to-undead transition very well and has severe emotional and psychological problems.

But I love the fact that his name is Count Ralph.

I noticed when there was a house fire in her dormitory, the vampire student was able to "Use" the fire somehow, not like the other sims who were distressed and so forth by the fire.

They can be annoying. The random biting on community lots can be awkward. Most of my sims pack vamprocillin, as the odds are they or a friend will eventually need it.

It certainly does keep the gypsy matchmaker busy. Everyone gets bitten eventually ... and few want to stay that way. Luckily vampirism is apparently biological and not supernatural so it's relatively easily cured.

One main head Vampire got married into my main family line and as a matter of course he became human. He's been a great stay at home dad, even though he likes to autonomously stalk his youngest daughter around the mega condo and Bleah her. Funny.

Now I do have a vampire house -- created by a sympathiser, now deceased -- which recruits members from the townie pool. Mostly bartenders and other service staff (working conditions must just ... suck). Some of them breed (Vampire pregnancies are easy!). Others are "cured" and become servants.

The main head Vampire (alas, not named Ralph) was recently recruited.

It turns out that his lifetime aspiration is to become Mayor. I can sink my teeth into that subplot.

When I started playing. there was a point where Vampires began to bite. It took a while, but once it started, it almost became an epidemic. As a player I was concerned. I started reading vampire FAQ's;I was worried my game was bugged. As for my sims, one of them decided to Do Something About It.

Sebastien Cabot,a retired knowledge sim, resolved to investigate the source of vampirism. He stocked up on antidote, put on his trenchcoat and set off alone to the the Science Club where it was rumoured that the biting began.

He walked in, the place was deserted. Except for the sounds of weeping. He walked around, footsteps on and echoing. Indeed there was no one there. But the crying continued. It was unnerving and wretched. Where was everyone? Seb remembered the observatory. And so he climbed the stairs. Slowly, elderly. And near the top he found Jace Rusewicz, being poked and abused by Two Grand Vampires, who were blocking both exits of the landing. Jace was alone and he was trapped.

Seb intervened and Jace was able to extricate himself. Now sInce this is not an adventure game, there was no big showdown or resolution. Seb merely talked to both vampires, told a joke, taught the Countess to smustle and eventually went home to the hot tub and his waiting wife. Jace became a vampire later anyway. And soon enough Seb died of old age and vampirism became just one of those things.

That Science club scene will stick with me though. It all felt really creepy.

Nightlife, along with University, was the EP that's caused me the most trouble in terms of installation, but once I got it working, I couldn't imagine playing my game without it! :)

I love the cars, I love Downtown, and most of all - I love vampires!
I currently have four vamps in my hood; one is a loner and the others are part of a clan. I have the deadly vampire bite hack installed, which allows my vamps to fullfill their hunger need by biting other Sims, to bite them without turning them, and (as the hack name states) to kill Sims by biting them. Quite handy for getting rid of excess townies. And of course, with the vamps having such dangerous powers, I make sure to match their looks with their overall badas$ness. Because vampires ARE badas$. And they don't sparkle.

And because I couldn't resist, have a pic.
