Hi all :)
After struggling with the Sims3 brightness dimming when alt-tabing back into the game and having searched high and low for a solution but not finding one - I finally figured out what works for my system and thought I would share in case others are having the same problem.
Basically, in my Intel graphics control panel I unticked the "Automatic Display Brightness" option that was in the Power tab. (I had previously tried changing the power settings that can be found in the main windows control panel, but this didn't work, since the graphic card options were probably overriding it.)
Hope this helps - so those of you having problems check out your power settings on your graphics card control panel. :)
