I had an issue with my package files a while back and I assumed it was an issue with some custom content I had downloaded. Being the lazy person that I am (haha) instead of trying to figure out with one it was I just deleted everything and decided to start over.
I guess I was wrong though, because no matter WHAT I put in the packages folder my game won't start. Even if there's only one file in it the game just "loads" and then freezes until I delete all the packages I had in the folder. I can't figure it out! I have Worlds-Pets expansions but no stuff packs. Am I supposed to be putting the mods/packages folder in a different game folder? I hope this makes sense...

What patch version are you on? (Hover over the base game icon in the launcher to find out.)

Are you creating a new game or loading a saved game?

Have you gone through the Installing package files faq (http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Installing_Sims_3_Package_Files) to make sure everything is set up properly? If not, give that a try.

If that doesn't help, can you post a screenshot of your Sims 3 folder and one of your mods/packages folder? Also copy and paste your resource.cfg here.

I suggest that you check your framework. If you are installing the old way, you will have a problem. If I were you, I would download the framework and follow those instructions. Start fresh THAT way. Don't delete things yet.

Read this and see if this helps.
