Work and school issues

I have a family of 5 in starlight shores . It worked for a long time then all of a sudden everytime the carpool/school bus came the action to go to work/ school would appear, then a few seconds later disappear. I've tried clicking "work" on the car, etc.
Like 2 1/2 year old mac
My computers specs are : 3.06 GHz Intel Core i3
4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Macintosh HD

I have tried doing several things to fix this, like moving my household out via edit town and then back in, deleting cache files, but i don't know what else to do. I have played 16 sim weeks on this household and i really don't want to start over so if you have a solution that involves keeping my save games that we be good. Thank you for all your help

Boarding school is also glitched and they never come to pick the child up.

Removing your user data (and savegames) is just a test to help you work out the cause of the problem, it's not a permanent thing.
