View Full Version : Game stuck on the loading: there is a limit for the number of .dbc file installed?

Hi! (:
I have installed a lot of sims3pack file and it seems that my game could read only 30 .dbc files that I put in my DCCache folder.
When I try to add in the DCCache just another .dbc file (that I've previously installed and removed from the folder) the game gets stuck on the loading page (the last time for over half an hour)...even if the programs hasn't stopped working =S

I'm just wondering if there is a limit of .dbc files that the game could handle or not.
I have installed the sims3pack in several batches as suggested in this site. The result is 80 dbc files around 300.000/400.00 kb each
Is also possible that some of them are corrupted? How could I verify it? There is some program?

I have also all expansion pack and stuff installed (except master suite and katy perry) and my game is updated at 1.33 version.
I haven't package file or mods installed.
My pc: intel core i5, 2.27GHz, 4.00 GB RAM, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650, windows 7-64 bit.

If someone could help me I would be very grateful (:
(I apologize for my english...hope you understand anyway)

I don't think there is a limit on the amount of files(.dbc-files are treated just like .package-files and one can have plenty of them) but i think game have problem if the individual file size is to large, i belive around 200-250MB is best.
You can try Sims 3 Dashboard tool (http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=387006) and point it to the DCCache folder (File/Scan Folder) to check if there are any errors in/with the .dbc-files.

Thank you very much for your help Belzader! (: I'll try first Delphy's program you suggested... the idea to uninstall everything and reinstall it in smaller batches makes me sick

I found also this: http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=382520

If I use the metod given in the " Missing previously installed content in-game" ( modify the resource.cfg, create the DCCache folder in mods and put the rest of dbc files here) it's possible that I've all the content that I previosly installed and then removed from the DCCache folder correctly shown in the games? (like if I'll put all my dbc files in the DCCache folder)

I so know the feeling of having to reinstalling huge amount of sims3packs, i have an issue with corrupted clothings and having to reinstall 4GB+ in sims3packs in 200-250MB batches, makes me feel no bloody way, just thinking about it.

Yes, you can use the "mod method" for DCCache, i have used it and items are shown ingame, just be aware that when installing new stuff you can end up with duplicates as launcher do not use that folder, also for the same reason you cannot uninstall anything from thoose .dbc-files.
