:alarm: I post this here, because I have searched high and low with google, here and on MATY, and I don't recall having seen an answer to this, sorry if I'm in the wrong place, but it's really urgent :alarm:
So... last night I bought a certain game (Flatout UC) and I had previously searched for it's security system on google just in case as I kind of hate SecuROM since I think it broke my computer before. Nothing showed so I said "awesome", and I bought it and installed. when I tried to run it, it wouldn't launch, just show me that beautiful sign "insert correct cd - visit this page - www.SecuROM.blahblah"!!
I searched, it had SecuROM. Damn, so I uninstall, and since I had a really bad experience before with it, I decided to just restart the system, and start fresh. Now the problem is that my main backup is on that computer, and my old one is also on a computer with SecuROM (thanks Sims :faceslap: )
I don't think it's actually possible, but better to ask than take the risks. If I take the data out with a USB device, will something with SecuROM stick to that data? or it's just impossible such thing to happen? (also, I can't remove SecuROM on my own, as I am kind of... dumb with that kind of stuff :( )
(by the way, my game is original, just I don't know why the hell it showed, but I don'd want SecuROM there at all!!)
So sorry for any inconvenience, and thanks in advance.

SecuROM is not a virus, it's not gonna "stick" to files.

yeah, that what I supposed, but I've got to say that I'm a bit paranoic these days. Thanks so much for the help!! Maybe I should just calm down before posting something like this :D

Actually the link at Sony does now remove SecuRom entirely - iirc due to a class action suit.

BTW secuROM might not technically be a virus but it very much acts like a virus/trojan/malware and should be avoided at all costs. I would never buy anything if I knew it had it. That's why EA/Sony were sued. I took part in the class action suit but unfortunately got nothing from it.
